1300 crosman vs vintage benjamin air pistols
edteach:
I see a lot of the Benjamin vintage go for 200 bucks on avg on eBay. The 1377 I bought I sold the holster as I am left handed and got what I paid for the pistol. So far I have invested 15 for the rebuild kit and that seems to have really fixed the pressure and hold issues. I ordered a steel breech kit with sight and barrel for 100 bucks. So all in 115 for the 1377 and steel breech and rebuild kit. This should make a really nice quality shooter.
How would you compare the two pistols, before my mods and after? Say against the Benjamin 137 and Sheridan 017
avator:
All I can say is.... they just don't make em like they used to.
Hoosier Daddy:
Back when I was a kid, you had 4 levels of air guns here in the 'states, or so perceived anyway.
Daisy
Crosman
Benjamin
Sheridan
In that order.
Right or wrong that was the pecking order around here.
I believe the higher prices of the Benji and Sheridan pumper pistols is due to the older guys like me that either, wanted them as a kid but could not get one, or trying to relive their youth with the gun they had back then...
I don't believe my Benji HB performs better than my 1377... but it sure holds a closer place to my heart.
avator:
And when you think you have it all figured out a gun like the Beeman P-17 comes around...
DRose:
Your 1377 is capable of being a better pistol than the older Benjamin's and Sheridans. Parts, tunability, trigger pull.
That does not mean the ben/sher don't have their place. Walnut and brass quality of build. These will hold their value better from a collector's perspective. It's a hobby enjoy it any way you want. I have several 13xx pistols, all modified and enjoy shooting them. The ben/sher h9 mostly sits in the box. Dave
