First is a trigger travel stop, which I cut from a piece of 1/4 inch thick cork sheet I had on hand. It was cut to shape where it took some pressure on the trigger to fire the pistol, and then glued in place with 5-minute clear epoxy. I held the insert in place with a plastic handle push pin.
After the epoxy cured, i inserted a strip of sand paper between the trigger and the cork, and while applying some drag with the trigger, pulled out the sand paper. After doing this number of times, I ended up with a very tiny gap and the trigger stopped moving just after the pistol fired.
If you do not have any sheet cork, you could use the cork from a bottle of wine, and enjoy drinking the wine while working on the project.
Next is an improvement to the grip.
I have been reading about Sugru mouldable glue, and really wanted to try it out. I picked up a 3-pack of black Sugru at my local Target store for $9.95, and went to work.
First I kneaded 1 pack and used it to form a thumb rest that exactly fit my thumb., and let it cure for 24 hours as instructed by the package. It fits perfectly. Next I formed an small heel rest with the 2nd package. It is curing as I write this. There is 1 package left, and it will be used to extend the heel rest.
When forming Sugru, you have 30 minutes once it is exposed to the air, so be ready. I also recommend wiping the plastic surface of the pistol with alcohol prior to starting this project.

While waiting for the Sugru to cure, I removed the trigger adjustment screw, and faced the shoulder back a bit in my lathe. The result was to take up some of the travel prior to the trigger break.

Your P17 fits like a glove now, that Sugru mouldable glue is pretty cool.

Well I think I have gone as far as I can on this project for now.
I used the 3rd and last package of Sugru to build up the palm rest, and the pistol fits my hand as if it were custom made for me. There was just one problem to solve, there were 2 areas that if this pistol had wood grips, I probably would have sanded off some sharp edges, but due to the plastic construction if you start sanding, the pistol would disappear.
Lucky for me, I already had some dark green felt with an adhesive backing. It’s the stuff you can buy at Ace hardware for sticking under objects to prevent marring a nice table top. I cut some pieces to size, stuck it on, and problem solved!
This is now a very comfortable pistol to hold. I really liked the results, so I just ordered an 8-pac of black Sugru off Ebay, and when it arrives, I may extend the thumb rest farther down the grip to support my palm. The rest will be used on my PP700SA pistol.

Yes there is a way to make it easy to cock the P17.
Look down this forum for "P17 problems," and read the whole thread. About half way through you will find where I explain how to do it.
It involves boring out the piston with a lathe to reduce the compression. The trade off is lower velocity. If you do not have access to a lathe, you probably could use a drill if you are careful.

I've contemplated that myself, our machinist would do it for me. I like the gun, I whish maybe they were lever operated. after a few shots the strain to the hand affects shooting. I thought od making a cocking aid similar to some springer pistols.

Bore out the piston and try it. If the velocity is too low, you can do as I did and fill the piston with a little bit of epoxy until you have a balance of effort vs fps to your liking.
I had mine apart so many times I felt like I should have installed a zipper 😀
Now that I have it the way I like it, I have no plans to take it apart again until it requires service. It's really fun to shoot now.
