Bob's getting brave!

First time in awhile I've seen him in the yard during the day! Usually see him during the middle of the night. He's crouching down on the prowl for something spied in one of my trails. Healthy looking dude.

Cool! Bobcats are absolutely ferocious for their size! That's a healthy big boy.

This one got a little too brave and Killer put it down. He had it stuffed and it lives in our bar now. This is the only cat that will ever be in our home.
I don't like cats, I don't trust cats.

If Mt Lions had the guts of a Bobcat, we'd all be in trouble,
there is No back up in Mr Robert cat, if he is cornered,
they will come out a shake hands with you, and he ALL business....

We're sure a bobcat took down a fawn on our land. The gamecams kept revealing visits from one in a short time period. During that period I heard the deafening squeals from a deer being attacked very close to the garage but over a small rise and out of view. It went on for several minutes and got softer, as if something was carrying it farther. Then it stopped abruptly. I didn't dare walk over to see what went down. This was at dusk.

But several days later my husband said a small deer had been killed* in that area. I saw what was obviously a fawn's skull and the picked-over body.

We've not only gotten video or photos of one in the woods between dusk and dawn, but also seen them walking ON the roads in late morning. The neighbor on that side also noted repeatedly seeing a bobcat prowling the area.

Don what's scary is they will lay in brush piles watching you go right by in trails 3ft away from you like hogs will which I've had happen before with hogs but not bobcats...that I'm aware of anyway.

Pat I had a fawn on a creek trail cam then a couple minutes later a bobcat hot on the trail. Never saw that fawn again but did have pics all next night and day of poor distressed momma looking for missing fawn. Bobcat maybe saved a human life by the fawn not growing up and killing someone on the road running in front of them is how I look at it.

Saw a recent video last night via Apple News that showed a tourist couple walking on a boardwalk while staring down at phone. A bobcat  sat crouched a few feet in front of them, about to pounce on something to the side.

If most people knew how many cats they walked by, when out in the pucker brush
it would shock them.

The better half was shocked by a Mt Lion that followed us up a canyon in 6+" of snow
on a trail we had just walked up, turned around and started back,
when I saw the tracks turned off into a patch if sage brush about 20' in dia,
we could see all the way around the sage brush and there was NO tracks leaving the sage brush area,
Mr Kitty was laying there watching us.
We were both carrying deer rifles and I had a Lion Tag in the pack, the wife insisted we leave NOW.
From the track size, 5-1/2+" in dia, it was a better than average tom Kitty,
and I don't have a Kitty hide hanging on the wall, YET.

Saw a video of a fool walking backward 6 minutes before finally throwing a rock at a cougar to get it to leave him alone. I'd done that from second 3 forget letting one hiss growl and stalk me 6 minutes I don't care if it's got a cub or not. Key word yet Don.

I have called in several when calling yeller dogs, more than once I have looked and saw that the sage brush had yellow eyes, if it hadn't been for the blinking eyes, you would have never know it was there, the last one was lying within 20' of me, watching my Aussie dog, as I was watching it over the sights of my Rem 870/ loaded with 8 rounds of 3-1/2" #4 Buck Shot.

The wind switched directions and the Aussie "Bear" let out a bawl and Mr. Kitty turned itself inside out leaving the scene, Bear was dancing and yipping waiting for the go signal, and he pouted the rest of the day at me....when I told him "NO".

The sage brush has eyes...............

Wow what a close call. Must've blown his little mind hearing the distress call expecting to find a rabbit or fawn then finding you and the dog there with no rabbit or fawn anywhere realizing the hunter became the hunted.

My dog Crockett has a strong killer streak when it comes to squirrels, rabbits, little brown bird, and chickens, and strong respect for the area foxes and coyotes, but he is flat out scared of big birds of prey and wild cats.

Several years back, the deer and even the cattle had become strangely skittish.
Had an eye opening experience while deer hunting from a brush pile. Close to dusk
Mr. Bob hops right up in that brush pile with me. Not sure what he thought I was, but
as we stared each other down I was veeeeeery slooooowly unholstering and pointing my pistol at him.
He started to run off a couple times but would just stop and just watch me.
You all know what they say curiosity did to the cat. Still makes me nervous thinking about it

That old Aussie HATED cats of any kind, I have seen him 10+ up a pine tree attempting to get to a lion/Bobcat, he would be chewing bark/limbs off the tree and getting madder by the minute when couldn't get any closer.
He was very well trained and minded commands with one word, he used to lay right next to me,
unleashed, and could spot a varmint coming to call and start shacking with a very low growl, it would take me several seconds before I saw the critter.
I sure do miss him, he was my Buddy, he went everywhere with me, if he started growling at a person, I really paid attention, and he was never wrong....

Chute what a story! If only you had a squirrel or mouse to feed him he'd been your new best friend.

Don I enjoy watching those hunting dogs do that on the Mountain Men show. It has to be so much fun for them you know they must dream about it nightly for at least the next week.

Indeed but he's been helping keep the rabbits and other critters in check here for at least the past 4yrs so as long as he lets me be I'll do the same for him. I like seeing him, his main squeeze and his kid around too.
