B3 Anti bear trap issue??

I am working on my second b3 .177.
It got the same upgrades as my first one.
New spring, steel top hat, New guides. O-ring piston conversion.
The issue I am having is the cocking is not consistent.  Some times it cockes and sometimes it doesn't BUT If I remove the bear trap mechanism it performs perfectly. I have replaced the sear and spring with a new one. Anyone got any ideas? I am fresh out of ideas.
I was thinking maybe a little to much spring pre load but I don't see how the pre load would effect the beartrap.

On mine I deburred and polished all the anti-beartrap parts, and lubricated them with tungsten paste (your favorite lube would do), basically doing the same kind of job as on a trigger mechanism. That made a significant difference in operation.

If you haven't already, try to cock the gun without the main spring installed, and with the action out of the stock, to see how the anti beartrap mechanism works. Often on these China-made low-cost guns the tolerances on the parts are all over the place, you may need to do some mods/adjustments. I seem to remember that on mine I had to slightly re-bend one of the parts, as it wasn't sliding well enough to permit good trigger sear engagement. HTH.

You said pre-load on the sear spring. If you meant the bent sear spring mod, I did it once. Not much difference but  worked for a while then sear wouldn't engage. Installed an un-bent sear spring, worked fine.

If you have to leave the anti bear trap out just hold the cooking lever while loading and don't let others shoot it or sale it. Or you can cut a .75 inch wood or steel dowel about 2.5 inches long, attach a piece of cord with the other end attached to the trigger guard or scope mount or sling swivel on the pivot bolt. Drop it in the breach to block the compression tube, load pellet, pull the dow out with the cord and close the breach. Good luck.

That's the issue.
I have a friend that wants to buy it for his son. I was planning on giving it to him but I can't under these circumstances.
If I was going to keep it for myself it would not be a big deal because I always use a pellet pen to load this type of gun.
I messed with it yesterday and with no piston spring preload the gun seamed to cock and  function correctly with the bear trap installed.
I just don't know how the spring  preload could keep the bear trap from cocking the gun. I am going to put the old spring and guides back in and see what happens.

Take the top hat out. The ends of the spring guide and top hat might be coming together or they may be causing the spring coils to come together before the sear can catch. I have used B1 and 2 metal spring guides in B3's. Some really old B3's, like old enough not to have 11mm scope grooves, will have metal spring guides.

Also they're is a pin thru the trigger housing crossway to align the anti-bar trap bar, some have two. If bent or off a little the end of the bar hits the front of the trigger instead of sliding over it.

Solved!!
I cut one of the thrust washers thickness down 1/16" and that did the trick.
I still don't understand why.
If the sear would set without the beartrap
It should have set with it.
Oh well we live and we learn.
