Title: LW/.22 vs. LW/.177 accuracy at 70+
Post by: skorec on July 22, 2018, 01:29:43 AM
After CF/stiffening the .177 LW   barrel I have  reached  acceptable long range  accuracy also for  .177 calibre.  One from three -  five shoot groups is 1MOA.
BC coefficient for  Monster Redesigned .177 is better than  for Heavy .22 and power is comparable.
Disadvantage only is higher shooting air pressure  requirement ( .22/160bar  177/190bar )

Peter, you are still getting a fair amount of spiral with the .177's.
In order to make it more evident, change your target material
from paper to thin cardboard.......an example is the box from an
automotive oil filter. It will mark more clearly, especially if it
is also backed with ordinary corrugated cardboard.
Based on your progress, I'm about ready to try the redesigned version.

 Thanks Ron,
YES, some holes in the target seems to be not totally symmetrical.
l  have to taste them again whit  the cardboard and also at different  velocities .
JSB heavy I was shooting from the same   barrel in to the thick   cardboard   and I  may see any asymmetrical holes at the target.

I seriously not understand at all   why CF stiffening of barrel  may act so huge  inaccuracy .

Different barrel harmonics .... Just like a CF fishing rod ... it vibrates !!
You can gain stiffness with CF sleeving, but you also need to play with weights / ldc or moderators to change at what frequency the shot vibrations make the barrel move and adjust said weight accordingly.

OK I will taste some additional weights  . For now the .177 Monsters REDESIGNED are acceptable for me.

It was only moderator issue. Plastic filling was distorted.
