A recently made a trip to my brothers house for a visit. He beeing 5 years older than me is starting to clear out some of his collections. He really does not do Airguns so I was the recieptent of what he had. The first is a Haenel Model 1 DRPa .177 cal. This belonged to a close freind of my fathers and it was purchased when he was about 12. That would make it about 80 to 90 yeats old.
It has a 13" LOP, 38" long with a 16" barrel. The bore is bright and no signs of rust or pits.
There is a slide on the side of the breach that locks the barrel up. You pul it back in order to cock the rifle.
There is no safety on the rifle and you can decock it by holding the barrel and pulling the trigger, then you control the spring untill the barrel is up.
There is no but plate but the stock has lines carved in it to stop slippage.
As the owner was raised in West Virginia I would say it has harvested its share of game if it was close. I am sure this is not a very powerful rifle by todays standards.
I tried to shoot it but the pellet does not move in the barrel. I can push a pellet through the barrle and it has rifleing marks on it. My first guess, since the spring seems to work, is a leather seal that has dried out. The barrel is a little loose, it wiggles side to side and front to back. I may try to dissasemble it and check out the leather seals.
This is probably the oldest gun in my collection next to my BSF Media's.
I will post about the other pistols that were given to me. I beleive all guns given to me were made in the 70's or earlier.
