What about the newer version of the 66 Powermaster? Uses the same magazines as the 760, but a little more powerful. Just something to think about...
I've had all these as a kid. The 760 was nice. The 880 was an upgrade; and the most accurate of these. The 2100 and 2200 were more powerful. If I could have any one of these back, I would take the old wood stocked, brass bolt 760. BUT, having said that, last X-mass I bought a new 760 for our boy. He unwrapped it and immediately went outside to shoot it. He had a hard time hitting a can at ten yards with it. I went to shoot it and had the same results. I was (and still am)DISGUSTED with Crosman for taking what used to be a nice gun and turning it into a piece of useless plastic. Threw it into the garage (I think it landed somewhere next to a gamo) and went to buy him something better. I don't mind paying a little more for quality, Crosman wasn't even considered.
just on the topic of conversation... i do pest control and as i am walking out of a customer's garage i see an old daisy box covered in dust... i inquired and the owner tells me it was his son's rifle but as he was in college and living in san diego, he had not used it in like 18 years... i ask him if he wanted to sell it, as i collect old bbguns and such. he was so pleased with my work that he gave it to me as a tip... sight unseen.i figured i could at least use it for parts. i get back to my truck and proceed to dust off and open the box and what do i find? a 95% condition powerline 880 20th year anniversary with box and all paperwork. thinking it looked pretty it could not shoot after sitting in a garage for 2 decades... I get back home and put 3drops of oil on every pivot point on the pump and 6 on the felt and rod... It feels as if it holds. i pump 1 time, shoot it, good. try 3... good try 8... still shooting ok. I run it through my chrony and at 8 pumps it will shoot crosman prems at 612 fps +-3 fps. Accuracy?puts 5 shots into a hole the size of a nickel at 20 yards with the open sights... I. Love. 880s.
