Any one made one? How did you bore the cylinders?

There are several home made versions on YouTube. There may be some useful info there. They all worked on the same idea as the Shoebox, but some used a some what different approach. I bought my Shoebox used several yrs ago & its been very reliable. Good luck with your project !

Hi Rocko. Thanks for your reply. I have been scouring the Internet.
Started boring the 1/8" cylinder. Got halfway through and snapped the end off my D bit. Now about to try dissolving that piece stuck in the hole using aluminium sulphate.
Life is a great learning experience!
Would be interested to hear from someone who has made one on the techniques they used.

Drilling deep holes, you need to peck drill, to clear the chips from the bore.
Feeds and speed for the material and type of tool used matter much.

Peck drilling is the way to go on deep holes.
I made a copy of the Shoebox compressor. A video clip is in the link below.
Let me know if you have questions.

Here's a video of it running.

Drill a tiny bit, pull it out, clean. Repeat.

Thanks guys for the replies. Yep I was pecking away ther with plenty of lube. Then just went a peck too far! Getting back to it now. Try and try again - I will get there in the end.
