PCP/CO2/HPA Air Gun Gates "The Darkside" / Re: Benjamin Fortitude Leak Question« Last post by Rick67 on Today at 01:11:50 PM »I try to avoid them tapped and threaded holes when inserting parts with O-rings.
The Fortitude tube only has one; that 8-32 one where the bow of the trigger assembly is, so deburr that one judiciously. Screw in a screw to make the slivers bloom, unscrew and sand, then rinse and repeat. Those stern-side slots and unthreaded holes can be easily smoothed out and are so within your index finger’s reach, but massaging the O-rings with a blunt object (I use plastic chopsticks or bamboo skewers) as it passes through them ever so slowly ensures unscathed ones. 2

PCP/CO2/HPA Air Gun Gates "The Darkside" / Re: Benjamin Fortitude Leak Question« Last post by Rick67 on Today at 12:44:09 PM »The 90D o-rings are harder than I believe I can use. Reason why I recommend Buna-N 80. I think it was Scott/Motorhead who said that Viton is not ideal for high pressure scenarios, which makes sense ‘cuz I did use them (airgun application) in the Philippines with not so favorable results. Viton works well though where friction, high temp, and harsh chemicals are present, and it is what manual sprayers use as piston rings..Yes, I used to sell them, sourced out from Germany and the Netherlands, to banana plantations.. 5

German AirGun Gate / Re: TITAN XS springs« Last post by HectorMedina on Today at 11:51:07 AM »After using them almost exclusively for the last 7 years, I am curious as to what you will find.
BTW, John Knibbs is the "Manufacturer" and they own "The Country Store" which also operates under "Airgun Spares" Have never used the ones for the Cometa, mostly their #1 and #4 for DIANAS, and the #7, #8, and #10 for smaller guns, like HW's and old Walthers. I particularly like the #1 in my LGU with the CCA/ULP, virtually no pre-compression, and very stable over thousands of rounds. I generally go for the widest/fattest/largest OD spring that will fit into the piston once the rotary expansion is taken into account. Because I want long term stability AND longevity, in that sense, Maccari has some great springs that even outperform some of the Titan's but at the cost of smaller OD and therefore, shorter lives. Vortek has been improving on the material they use and new springs are substantially different from the older ones. They do require some "strain tempering" though to have reasonable lives. Some customers ask for power, some ask for stability and / or long life. As long as they take informed decisions, I am good with whatever they want. Just one precaution: IF you need to cut, forge and close one of these springs, do the forging in a VENTILATED place. The coating they use, while VERY good for the purpose, does fume and smoke some. Nothing to die for, just be aware. HTH, keep us posted! HM 7
