Finished loading the truck to bug out. Dealt with a half dozen things that no one thought of til the last minute. Now we're locked, loaded, and rolling up the MSR!
Good luck to those waiting to see what the storms dish out. Evacuations, ugh. Had some experience with that but from a different elemental threat. Fire instead of water. Hope the strong stuff goes way out to sea.I know what a FL cracker is. Will have to look up conch.
Funny distinctions between the conchs. Thanks for the info and grins!
Home again, home again. Back from our buggout. Of course the storm wandered off to the east and missed our place entirely.Florida Crackers were the not the first cowboys in Florida but the name came from the long stock whips to drive cattle that they used. My ancestors that settled around Green Cove Springs were Crackers. My Jones relatives were white Bahamians who settled on Matecumbe and Tavernier. Family history says that they were "Wreckers". If you are a conch you know what Wrecker is a euphemism for.
In a few minutes I am headed off to have a "breathing test". I have been breathing all my life so, I got this!
