Hi...I had a Diana 54 arrive today for a new spring/seal..So I put the first pellet though it...You got to be kiddingme..so another WOW..Wheres the recoil ? Wheres thebarrel rise ?.....So time to investagate...OK whats this? The action slides forward & aft in the stock...So I putanother pellet in but this time I slide the action to the rearof its slides & took a shot..Yep theres the recoil...whenyer cock it the action slides forward then slides rearwardsto absorb the recoil when fired...And its NO gimmick it WORKS.After the shot the cross hairs are still in the same place they werebefore yer fired...With out any question its the closed springer recoil wise to a PCP I have shot..And yer get one of the best trigger in the air gun world...Gamo/Crosman/Hatsan admittedly in a diffrent prise range..But priseaside they are junk compaired to a 54.. "yer get what yer pay for" inthis case its 100% TRUESo guys if yer got a bundle of $ to spend on a springer...The 54 has tobe on the top of yer list...I know it is on mine...In fact I'm going tounload 6 of my springer's on a local auction site to get my hand on a 54...Do yer think I like the 54 ? NO I didn't like it..loved it...in the pics yer can see the action in the forward & rearward postion...Its hard to beleave that small amount of movement can make sucha BIG driffrents to the recoil...Pete54 owner in waiting....

I did not know you could shoot the rifle without the recoil mechanism engaged. Is it safe to do that?darryl
