Pellets catching at breech port on older 760 Powermaster

Hi,
Has anyone else ran into this before? When I go to load a pellet into a couple of the older Crosman 760 Powermasters I have, (V1 - V3), the pellet jams at close to the end of the bolt travel, so the bolt then won't lock. The pellet then has to be pushed back out to the load area with a cleaning rod. The only way I've found to keep it from happening frequently is to just start the pellet in the bore, then flip the rifle upside down and continue moving the slide forwards. It happens with all three types of pellets I've used. Could the breech gasket & metal gasket sleeve somehow be causing it? Any way to fix it? Thanks
Jim

Maybe a burr on the transferport causing it.
Or something else blocking it causing the pellet going in crooked.
Look in in the barrel for clues.

They might sound like a lot of work till you realize you only need 3-4 pumps for plinking.

All the time.
Tilt the gun downwards and It'll be easier to load.
