Ronald I sent you out some of my ugly slugs in the mail today. I sent you a tracking number in a PM. Sent you both some round nosed and semiwadcutters that should be about 104 grains
Shot a string at 3150 today with the replacement spring on the hammer and poppet , and 88gr GT hp bullets , I think this is the best I'm going to get with this setup , the bolt is so much easier to cock that I'm willing to give up some vel. to gain ease of cocking.
Thanks , Dan ,I too have a mold coming from. Noe ,the one that resembles the GT bullet , 32 inch barrel wow bet you can get some decent fps with that , I need to do some accuracy testing ,just need the time, going to try and make a peek poppet too , as soon as the stem material shows up, hope your gun shows up just cause the guy has someegal issues doesn't mean he can't do business.
I went the opposite route using my archery mindset, and made a pair of cocking aids for my Challenger with some scrap leather. One is a T handle, with a large leather wrapped bolt as the handle, and one is a full wrist strap. Both now let me cock the rifle with very little effort, though I prefer the T handle. I just cut a foot or so of leather in a 1/2" strip, folded it in the middle to make a loop and used some serving string wrapped and tied to keep the loop in place. Put the bolt in the crotch of leather made by the tied off loop base and wrap the 2 trailing strips of leather around each end of the bolt and tie them off with serving string as well. Instant T handle. The small loop on either slips over the gun's bolt handle and the leather aids give me a lot more "grip".
The beginning of the peek poppet for the challenger, this will be my first attempt at making one so it might take several sessions and a little wasted material before the final product is acceptable.
We did have a problem with DAR gun's with the poppet sealing surface area to small where it wedged down to a very sharp small sealing surface , about 10 thousand's cut down with 2000 grit paper solved this problem giving it a small yet enough area to seal properly ... with peek I would do the same 2000 grit polish on both sealing surfaces especially since peek is harder to seal than let's say delrin ....
I ordered the Standard AEA Challenger 35 cal with a 24" barrel this morning from AEA Airguns USA, it was a little pricey for the shipping at $65 and it came to $519. I've also got a 35 cal pellet mold coming from NOE for it.
