Vortek used to make real nice ones that worked well and no power loss. Unfortunately, he stopped making them although kinda strange he quit those but still makes seals for Crosman and B18-19 rifles. I still have a few in the tool box but opted to try the ARH seals to see what would happen knowing Vortek quit making theirs.
The ARH although not huge power losses did have minor ones but not big enough to make me take apart the 2 rifles they're in. When the day comes, I already ordered up and been sitting on a few brand new Hatsan seals for them. In my case, I'm lucky. The 95, 87QE, Edges, my Webley Tomahawks and VMX rifles all use that same piston seal.

Update time, again.
I have now put around 230 pellets total through my H135. Ultra Magnums just don't pile the shot count like milder springers do, since shooting 200 pellets at one go just isn't feasible.
A couple days ago I shimmed the breech seal of the 135 with 0.3 mm. After putting 60 shots to break the change in, I chronoed the Hatsan. Here are the results:
H&N Ram Point 27 gr.
692 fps
27.9 fpe
- shimming brought +10 fps / 0.8 fpe (I posted a mis-calculated fpe in my earlier chronoing post!)
H&N FTT 20.03 gr.
795 fps
28 fpe
-shimming brought +5 fps / 0.37 fpe
Sadly I don't have before / after stats for more pellets, especially ones that seem to fit my 135 the best, but here are the new numbers for the pellets I chronoed now for the first time (5 shot averages):
JSB Exact 25.39 gr.
716 fps
28.8 fpe
Predator Polymag 26 gr.
721 fps
29.9 fpe
H&N Baracuda 30.86 gr.
651 fps
29.0 fpe
H&N Baracuda Hunter Extreme 28.4 gr.
681 fps
29.2 fpe
JSB Exact Lead free 16.54 gr.
909 fps
28.4 fpe
Polymags have the highest KE, and are the only pellet that breaks the 40 J threshold, and is just below the 30 fpe line. Other H135 testers have also found the Polymags to top the heap. They are reportedly also the most accurate pellet in many H135's, a win-win.
The lightest pellets, the FTT and the lead-free Exacts, were by far the loudest to shoot, despite well below supersonic speeds. Shooting these pellets is borderline nasty also due to the sharp multi-directional recoil (including up my cheekbone) they produce. They are simply too light for the H135.
The heaviest pellet tested here, the Baracudas, had an extremely low velocity spread, in addition to a pleasant shot cycle. We'll see how accurate they are. Slow'ow'ow...
26 - 28 gr. seems to be the best pellet weight for the 135 .25 cal. Other testers have reached the same conclusion.
Today I shot the first sighting in shots with the 135, using Exacts. Tweaking the fiber optic OEM sights with 20 shots, I soon was hitting a 30 mm bullseye at 20 meters, shooting offhand, standing. This tells me the H135 is capable of very usable field accuracy. Especially considering I think the pivot joint needs tightening, I have no idea of the gun's pellet preferences (accuracy-wise) yet, and I'm just learning the ropes of handling, or fondling, the Hatsan just so.

A custom steel spring guide with metal and polymer thrust washers along with a new, but older style, white "Large" piston seal for the Mod135 series rifles is finally on the way to you.
The design goal was to have the spring fully supported during the entire shot cycle by either a custom long guide, the piston, or both. This guide is made from commonly available pipe and washers. Some TIG welding is involved and then the guide is finished by spinning in a drill press and filing/sanding by hand. IMO more precision is just not needed for use in Hatsan Magnum air rifles. Feel free to make this installation as simple or as complicated as your needs dictate.
Some comments:
Guide should be "very tight" inserted into a "relaxed" spring.
Guide should be "snug" when spring is compressed to its normal preload length (We WANT this to dampen unwanted spring vibrations.)
Guide should be "loose" at full spring compression.
I have tested this guide design in multiple spring Mod125s and one spring Mod135. When fine tuned to fit EACH SPRING I get a MUCH smoother shot cycle with "0" spring twang. HOWEVER, I do see a loss on the order of 1-2 ft-lbs of energy. It is my hope that the fpe will return as the guides "wear-in", but the rifles shoot so much nicer that I really don't care about the slight energy loss.
The guide on the way to you may need some fine tuning (diameter reduced slightly by sanding) to properly fit your spring. This guide is also about 1mm LONGER than all my previous guides so there is a small chance the piston will bottom out on the guide before the trigger sear can engage.
Also important is the fact that I have only tested this design in rifles that came from the factory with coil springs and coil spring specific parts. If your rifle started life as a Vortex model there is a small change this guide will not work as expected without additional modifications.
I typically just paint a thin layer of a tacky marine grease on the guide and spring during installation, but a thin coat of moly grease/powder might work better for the metal-to-metal sliding contact.
Disclaimer: Sorry, but I cannot guarantee or warranty these parts and any/all potential risks or damages arising from installing and using these parts is solely on you the installer.

What a super-cool surprise, Mikey!
The shot cycle of my 135 has gradually turned more aggressive due to the sorry excuse for a spring guide and no tophat. The seller-provided spring tarring that made the gun surprisingly docile at first has broken down from several hundred shots. It's not a long-term solution in these guns. So, a custom spring guide is dearly needed.
I'm looking for a long relationship with my 135, it has such promise and fits me so well. Having the known issues ironed out will feel really good, thanks to you and Steve. I'm extremely grateful of your generosity.
P.S. Your end disclaimer is fully heeded.
