But let us also be fair with the mortality rates as well, reports so far indicate an almost balanced rate for 2020 compared with previous 10 years for overall mortality, regardless of illness.

Balance this with draconian rules, high rates of emerging depression, job loss, suicide and overall mental illness increases and I would opt out of masks etc. if it were not for my employment.

I got my 2nd shot of Pfizer last Tuesday. The only side effect I had was swollen, tender lymph node on my right arm pit. This was the arm that the injection was given on.

I just wish I felt like I was getting truthful information about this vaccine.  I was under the impression from what I heard on the news that one shot was only about 60% protective and then the second shot would boost that to 90+%.  I understand flu shots do not always prevent you from getting the flu but I just went to the CDC website and here is what they have posted about the Moderna:

Based on evidence from clinical trials, the Moderna vaccine was 94.1% effective at preventing laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 illness in people who received two doses who had no evidence of being previously infected.

I don't know who to believe about this anymore but Oregon has decided not for follow CDC guidelines so I have no idea when 69 year olds will be eligible for vaccinations.

I don't mean to be telling you something you may already know; but perhaps this link is new to you
https://covidvaccine.oregon.gov/#prioritization
According to this Oregon.gov site your eligibility (age 65+) for the vaccine begins February 28.

Also IMO there is no reason to sweat the difference between 90+% efficacy and 94.1%
Both numbers say the vaccine is very effective.
The more arms it goes into coupled with increased testing allow the folks that track the results to fine tune the numbers

Hope this come as good news

And by all means stay safe

SWMBO and I get tested weekly due to our close proximity to those being treated for CV-2,  she just got popped, now I get the quick test every 2 days.

We both have both shots, efficacy kicks in about 30 days post, I guess she hasn't had enough time to bulld up the immunity.

No symptoms other than being perturbed off royally!

Congratulations to all that have gotten the shot and have had little or no side effects so far.

I agree Herd/Flock ;) immunity needs to be built up. They use to say (I heard them) that the two ways of doing that are get the infection OR get the vaccine. I had Covid-19 and FOR ME it wasn't that bad (no picnic either), but I now have a system that is ready for next time with antibodies that will last a few months and killer T cells that have been shown to last 18? years. I will continue to be respectful and try to protect the weak. From what I have read the chance of your system fighting any mutation of the virus is the same if you were infected with a shot or by having caught it in the wild.

This is just what I am going to do and why, not a recommendation or post trying to prove anyone right or wrong.

Everyone is and should be able to choose and do what they are comfortable with as far as the vaccine is concerned.
Polio was the only vaccine I got as a child, and I had the whole list of the childhood diseases and as they say "if it doesn't kill you it makes you stronger". 8)

As an adult I got the Flu Vaccine for about the last 10 years in a row before I retired though, because working with the public in a Grocery store I had virtually no chance of not getting the Flu every year.

My asst. manager came to my desk with an app on his phone. We zipped through a few screens (no personal info) and I got a schedule conformation.
5/5/21 @ 7:30am in our County Health Dept. right here in town.
Bring ID and insurance info.
Being 10 years younger than me, Betty Lou will have to wait a while longer... they were not scheduling her group yet.

We got our first shots yesterday and neither one of us has felt a thing; although, we were both a little warmer than usual last evening.  We're cool today.
