Was at K-Mart and saw an Umarex Syrix on sale for 49.99 but couldn't find any reviews. It is a .177 nitro piston break barrel. Umarex says it does 1000fps and 15fpe. Seemed cheap enough to take a chance so I bought it. My old eyes don't work well with open sights, so I attached the included 4x32 scope and sighted it in with a laser boresighter. It was actually hitting about 5 inches right of the laser, but once I got that adjusted, it seems to be quite accurate. I mainly plink soda cans at 30 to 40 yards, and have no trouble consistently hitting them off hand. It doesn't have a suppressor, but seems to be fairly quiet. Loudest is the sound of the piston, and then the pellet hitting the target. This is my first break barrel so have no comparison, but my CO2 pistols and Daisy 880 seem louder.
