Well I received our new XS-16 from Mikeiniowa last night. Mike had some xisco xs-16 that were not selling very well so he posted them up here on the GTA FREE to anyone whom wanted one. I got in on the deal and for just the price of shipping I was able to get a brand new, in the box XS-16 no strings attached. I have never even bought anything from Mike. He didn't even ask if I was a past customer. I can't believe that he would do such a giving thing! Mike if you read this thank you very much. My wife has already said that she is "going to be the new starling sniper in the house" with this gun. My gun showed up today in perfect shape. I am overwhelmed. What a *(&^ of a nice guy!! Thanks again Mike, the wife and son love it. I think I will probably get some trigger time with it too.

I unboxed the gun (it was in two boxes) and ran a few pellets through it. It was shooting very low, about 10" at 16 yards. I bent the adjustable sight up and got it shooting pretty close to point of aim. The rear fiber-optic sight is adjustable for both windage and elevation and the front red fiber-optic sight is hooded. I have not shot it much but it seems like a nice little rifle. The gun shoots almost as hard as my Daisy 880 with 10 pumps. I did a penetration test on a phone book since I have no chrony and the Daisy was putting them about 15-20 pages deeper. I expect that after the seal wears in the gun will gain a little velocity. The gun is perfect for the wife. It has a light cocking effort and the velocity is advertised at 660 fps in the .177 that I received. The gun is approximately 40" long and just shy of 4.5 lbs. The gun is a little larger than I expected and is a bit too large for my 6 year old. I am hoping that he will grow into it this year. I don't think he will have any problems bench shooting it but it may be a year or two before he is able to shoot it offhand. The stock and barrel shroud are ABS (plastic). The saftey, and the breech are also ABS. The safety is at the rear of the gun and is automatically reset to safe every time the gun is cocked. The saftey has a red dot on it when it is in the safe position and is taken off by pushing the saftey into the gun which hides the red dot. I found the red dot a bit backwards from that standard in which red means the gun is ready to fire but it will work. I ran several different pellets through it and I noticed that the CPHP pellets were a very tight fit while the daisy pellets (the 3 types in the sinker style pack wadcutter, hollow point that looks like a destroyer pellet, and pointed) were all rather loose. The Crosman pointed and destroyer ex pellets fit nicely. I need to run some more pellets through it before I get a feel for it's accuracy. I however was able to hit a corncob without too much work at 16 yards. The stock screws were loose and needed tightened. I loctited them and cleaned the barrel (it was pretty dirty) and that is all I have done to it at this point. The trigger, while it is not perfect is not bad. I think after it wears in a bit it will be just fine. The trigger pull is much lighter than the one on the Daisy 880. The gun is a bit twangy and sounds a bit gritty when cocked but the only gun I have to compare it to is my gas rammed Crosman Titan. It has much less recoil than the Titan, but it does have some recoil. I know very little about springers in general, but I think this is pretty typical for the average untuned springer. Overall the gun seems like a nice little shooter. I am sure we will have a lot of fun with it.

I unlike you missed out on the deal as I have a little nephew that is just begging me to get him a BB gun but I myself do not like BB guns as they do tend to ricochet so am thinking of getting him a little pump up crosman as his arms could do with the work out... lol but I might just look around for one of those XS16's looks way better than the pump up crosman.. lol

Mike also has the Tech Force 15 customized for youth shooters. It is under $50.00. It looks like it would be an excellent option also.

I received my free XS-B16 yesterday. I like it's look. Yep, the barrel had to be cleaned. Mine is the .22 version. I agree with you about the trigger. It's not bad. The first stage (?) feels a bit loosey-goosey, but there is a definite firming up when the second stage (?) is reached. Of course it's non-adjustable. But it's not a heavy pull. I had not thought to check the screws. I've been running a few RWS 14.5gr superpoints through it, and the accuracy was fine, initially; one ragged hole of about 1/2 inch with 10 shots at 9 yards. Then the grouping started walking about. I had other stuff to do, but I'll get back to it later. I liked the finish of the metal on the receiver too. Oh. I did take a few random shots outside. It's a very quiet rifle. Given it's low power, that's welcome, if surprising. I'm guessing a few more FPS could be squeezed from it by shimming the breech seal, but for a child I guess it's powerful enough. I plan to give this to my great nephew, if his mom approves. When I showed it to the wife, she actually liked it and said she might want this little rifle! It would behoove me to let her have it too!

I have scoped the rifle with my Titans Centerpoint 4x32 and the rings that came with it. The sights were really in the way. I was having a hard time focusing on the target. I read that even with high rings the front sight would be in the way so now my gun has no open sights. I cut the front post off with a coping saw. It cut very easily, and I am pretty sure I could superglue it back on and still have a reasonable sight with reasonable adjustment fairly easily. I really like it with the scope. From what I have tried so far it seems to prefer CPHP. I finally got the wife out to shoot it and she had a blast. My wife is able to cock and load it easily. We only shot for about 10 minuites but she loved it. She was able to hit my spinner that is 1 1/4" round at 48 feet without much of a problem. This is a nice little low powered gun. Perfect for plinking.
