Charlie,
They work GREAT with the "crinkley" water bottles but I can't get anything spectacular from 20 oz diet coke bottles.
Is it possible that I have to go higher than 60 psi?  I'm a bit nervous with much more pressure.
What is the general burst pressure of 'standard' plastic bottles ?  Am I playing with fire to go to 70 ?
My spider senses are tingling even at 60!

All of the bottles in my demo video were inflated to 100-110 psi. I changed the rating to 90 PSI only because I was trying to figure out why the things weren't selling very well. A 20 ounce bottle will certainly need 90 psi to put on a good show in fact last week I pumped one up to 120 just... because.
But for goodness sake when you're messing with these bottles have common sense at your side - always cover the bottle with a heavy towel when inflating and use gloves and eye protection when handling the bottle.

It is amazing they will take that much pressure.
I am known as 'Mr. Safety' around my friends and family, so rest assured I might even be wearing a welding apron and face shield when I handle those at 100 psi!
Fun noise makers without the dangers of hot chemicals!

I got a set in but the 16oz bottles wont work. The cap is deeper than the threaded neck on the bottle so the cap of the blaster bottoms out before the threads catch, even with the bottle retainer taken off. Maybe I need 20 oz bottles.
Any suggestions?

I didn't know. I've used 12 ounce and 20 ounce bottles but never a 16, surprising, I thought a cola bottle necks were the same.
What brand pop is it?

Well it was actually a water bottle I was trying because the plastic on them are really flimsy per the instructions. I tried the Great Value brand.

As I was writing these I double checked the bottle because and actually the cap from the water bottle will almost fit inside the Blaster cap. So I think it is more of a diameter problem that the Blaster cap is a standard US size and the GV water bottle is not.

I will try a regular soda bottle.

I understand that my caps are a pain in the butt, but it's not to a lack of me trying. I spent the entirety of last winter looking for caps and ended up buying some oddball chinese stuff because it was the ONLY thing I could get. You cannot buy pop bottle caps in this country less than a truck load. The chinese will make them cheap at a minimum of 50,000 pieces but it cost $1,300 to ship them to America. One company remembered they had some leftovers from a previous order and I bought them.

Big mistake -- When I was developing my system I focused entirely on soda bottles, crinkly water bottles never entered my mind. Well live and learn... next spring I'll have a new version out in 2 styles: Cola and Water. Custom HEAVY Duty caps with the valve installed in the cap. They will be so much easier to use. Just screw the cap on, pump it up and shoot. No need to add water and no more lost valves.

The caps in my kit are for cola bottles and work well if you remove the remains of the tamper band from your bottle.   To deal with the crinkly water bottles push the valve into the neck, cut an X, or punch a hole in the cap that came with the bottle and push the cap downwards as you screw it onto the bottle.

Surprisingly, yesterday afternoon I pumped a water bottle up to 95 psi before the cap blew off. I thought for sure the bottle would blow first.

Homebrew suppliers sell soda bottle caps.

Your local homebrew store can get them in any number or color you like.

I found those caps at home brew last winter.. just too expensive when you need ten thousand. I bought, I had to buy 22,000 of the chinese caps and will have lots left over by the time the new version of Big Blast is ready.
Don't understand why, I listed my extra caps by the case for a nickle each on ebay and nobody is interested.

Thanks the info. I'll try the water bottle cap idea. Maybe even just drill a hole like in the blaster cap. I removed all the Tamper band already.

Got some coke 20oz bottles and they worked great. One with water and one with some powder. Pumped them to 80# and shot them with my QB 78D .22. Got two more of them but there wasn't much of a bang but I think I put too much powder in them tying to create a bigger "dust cloud"!

Sometimes less is more, as they say....

I pumped a 12oz pepsi bottle to 90 psi and shot it .. made a nice boom sound.  I am wanting to try some of the crinkley watter bottles to see if they are louder.

NOW you're having fun!  You know the smaller the bottle the more pressure it will take, couple of weeks ago I pumped a 12 ounce coke bottle up to 120 psi.
Years ago before I started this Big Blast thing I was pumping 2-liter bottles to 140 psi but they wouldn't blow unless I scribed them with a utility knife before pumping them.
The bigger the bottle> the higher the pressure> the louder the blast.

my friend has a pellet gun that shoots in the 400-450 fps range and at 90 psi it would not puncture the pepsi bottle .. we did noty have water bottles to try as they are thinner walled.   just an fyi as the pellet ricocheted when shot by his gun
