Title: Outdoor places to shoot in or near Syracuse, NY?

I recently moved from a rural environment where I could shoot my airguns in the backyard of my apartment all day long without frightening anyone. Now, I've moved to the city in Syracuse, NY and am looking for a relatively close place to shoot aluminum cans, plastic "toy" targets, and metal spinners with my airguns.

I'm pretty sure that the police would be at my door within minutes if I took any of my collection outside here.

I put an ad on Craigslist for a rural place to shoot with no replies.

Any advice?

Probably for the short plinking sessions that I had in mind.

Hey Syracuse! Look for state land...its all over the place. Go on google maps and look for the green areas.

Is it legal to shoot airguns on state land?

Yes, it is legal to shoot airguns on state land as long as you follow the 500 foot rule. There are several large WMA's around Syracuse. Also, if this helps, Pathfinder fish and gun club is in Fulton, about 30 minutes north of Syracuse.

I should also mention that Pathfinders member orientation for new members is this Sunday at 2. they have a web site I believe.
