Is the scratch deep enough to make it to the wood? If not, some micro mesh pads polishing through the grits then finish off with Mother’s Mag and Aluminum Polish. If they are “minor” the Mothers may do the trick. Thing is with the Mothers, it may turn out really shiny and then you will want to polish the rest of the stock to match. All of this is assuming it’s a factory lacquered finish and not some other oil type finish. As always, try a small hidden area first to see if it’s compatible.

I have recoated a couple of my old work patina'd stocks. I washed the stock with turpentine to get all the accumulated oil and dirt off and then washed again with metholated spirits. Next a good sand with 220 grit to rough up the surface. No need to go through the old finish to bare wood. In fact better not to. A couple of coats of Cabots floor seal. It is a water based varnish for wooden floors and very tough. On a hot day the varnish drys very quickly so two coats in a couple of hours.
Not a Steinway finish but quite acceptable and presentable. Covers any minor scratches.
Ps. Better not to use a brush. I use a foam pad or sometimes just a soft lint free clothe and wipe it on.

The scratches were on the stock when I received it from factory, really fine, really small on certain areas, hardly noticeable unless you look real close, they don’t show up good in pictures. The gun was wrapped in a plastic bag, kinda loose in box, I’m guessing that’s where the scratches came from. The stock is a blue laminate HW97 that I got a couple of years ago, haven’t even put a hundred pellets through it. I’m thinking of putting it up for sale soon and wanted to make it “shine” for the next owner.

From your description, they sound very minor. Does the wood color show through, or is the scratch itself blue? If the latter, I might try just a paste wax shine.
If the scratches are deep enough that they are the color of the wood, I would match the color with somethong which would stain the scratch to match the rest, then probably wax it.

Joe..I sincerely hope that you are able to remove the scratches from your Laminate gunstock. Those stocks are absolutely stunning to look at and are beautiful. Damage to gunstocks is the reason that I prefer my guns to have Composite gun stocks. A nice Hardwood gunstock, winds-up looking like I put it thru a wood-chipper, if I take one on my hunting expeditions in the backcountry. I can rest a Composite stocked gun on big rock boulders or downed trees and shoot it with out much damage but if I do that with a Hardwood stock then there are deep gouges in it. I really like the looks of a nice Hardwood stock and they are beautiful.. but they are... not to good... for Severe Service Hunting and especially in cold winter conditions. At -20 F.. ice will easily gouge a hardwood gunstock. I used to have a Beautiful 1940's Belgian Made, Weatherby rifle that I hunted big game with. The gunstock on that gun took a sever beating over the 30 years that I hunted with it. I realize that my hunting situations are the Exception and Not the Normal usage of an Air Gun. Most folks will want a good looking gunstock on their gun. I surely hope that you are able to resolve this problem sir.
Best wishes - Tom
