Buyer's, Seller's & Trader's Comments / Kerplunk a Wonderful Buyer« Last post by JoeShmoe on Today at 08:29:17 PM »Kerplunk came in with lots of friendly and clear communication. We agreed on a price, and we exchanged currency for goods on the same day. They let me know when the item arrived and how everything went.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy or sell with them again. Joe 22

China/Asian AirGun Gate / Re: B26 .22 70Yds Target & Chrony Report« Last post by gloob on Today at 07:35:33 PM »Quote you going around telling everyone to make a 12" , 11", 6" shorty isNo I didn't. Your english could use some improvement, mate. I provided a formula and explicitly suggested you don't go shorter than 12" unless you can add a shroud after. Quote Each time shortening the barrel always shows a loss in FPS even going from 18" to 15" In both 177 and 22.Which .22 springer was it? The one you found to lose velocity from 18" to 15"? It must have velocity of around 780fps or higher to use all 18" of barrel. What pellets are you shooting to get that velocity? If you had used my formula, you'd have known you were going to lose velocity before you cut it! 15" should be good to ~710 fps. If your 15" barrel rifle shoots FASTER than 710fps, then yeah, you lost velocity and you're getting some pinging. Rick knows his way around a springer. He did all the things you're supposed to do and check for, if you watch his review. IIRC, Rick also did a review of the Air Venturi TR-5. This is another clunker with a straight bore which has velocity of only 430 fps but the barrel is 18.75". He deviated from his usual 10 yard bench testing and instead shot from 5 yards to keep them on the paper! Quote and your whole idea of tight loose tight barrels If you read the thread I linked in my previous post, there are not one but two (or more) people who own this exact Crosman Venom in .22 who suggested he should try pellets with 5.3mm head size. Is that big or small? I don't know without looking it up. I am guessing small. If the pellet is a loose enough fit to the bore, that minimizes drag in a straight bore barrel that's too long. Before I cut down my Venom, I sorted Crosman Premiers out by head size with a go/no-go gauge into two groups to see if this gave a hint at the problem. The smaller ones, about half the shots sank into a tight group within a larger halo of fliers. With the larger ones, they were mostly all fliers. Ne Bedank Je! 29

Machine Shop Talk & AG Parts Machining / Re: Safety check - modified an HPA probe, might not have enough thickness« Last post by WobblyHand on Today at 07:33:00 PM »For the axial stress case, I think, even with a poor steel assumption, you are a little under a margin of three. For the radial stress case, you could press in a short plug since the radial load creates compression. It's interesting you mention pressing in plugs. I have some experience with that, having made some pin spanner wrenches. What I found, especially for small size pins (think 2mm) is that you need to have a weep hole or a tiny groove along the length of the pin. If you don't, the pin will not end up where you expect. Despite having a stop on my arbor press, I found after a day that the pins were at all different lengths. This is because the pin compresses the air and it eventually pushes on the pin. Once I put in weep holes, my next tool had perfectly aligned and uniform length stick out. I didn't save the old spanner, it was embarrassingly bad. I couldn't think of a good way to make the groove, (pins are small and hard to hold!) so instead I drilled holes radially. |
