Looking at having a LDC made for my Hatsan Hercules Bully .45. Looking for the barrel threaded end size and pitch. It has the QE shroud. But I don’t want the shroud thread size. I have removed the shroud and need the size for the end of the barrel (crown). A 5/8” fine thread starts for the first couple turns. But it’s too tight. Looks like it might be a 16mm. But I have nothing to measure metric threads. It is larger than the threaded barrel on my .22 Flashpup which uses a 14mm nut. Thank you. Darrell

Sounds like 16 mm x 1.5 mm.... That works out to 17 TPI, and a 5/8" NF thread is 18 TPI.... so yes, may thread on a turn or two, depending on the exact thread dimensions cut into the barrel.... If there are an inch of threads, count the number of peaks, and if it is 17 (actually 16.93) you can bet on it being 16x1.5.... If you have calipers, measure valley to valley for 10 threads, and it should be 0.590" for 16x1.5....

a quick way to solve it is simply to mail the barrel to the ldc maker in the usps tubes sold at the post office.. be about 9 bux including shipping and no risk of error.

Thank you rsterne. I am taking it to Fastenall, they have a device to measure it exactualy. I will let you know how your guess was!
Rob M. It is the LDC builder who is asking me the size. He has not done one for the Bully.

the ldc maker is a machinist im sure and he can identify the thread almost instantly.. saving all the hassle and guessing. So if you mailed the barrel to him there would be no confusion since he could measure the barrel for you

Had the threads measured today. They came up with the same thing I did using my pitch gauges. The Hatsan Bully .45 is a 16mm by 1.25 pitch.
Mailing the barrel across the country and back seems like asking for trouble.

I didn’t mean to come off wrong. I do appreciate your post. The builder doesn’t want to be responsible for keeping track of customers parts. Which I can understand. I was going to send him the threaded collar. Small inexpensive to ship and would be perfect for matching threads. But also very easy to be misplaced. Darrell

i understand // no issue.. sometimes people give up on projects when they simply cant find the thread pitch and have no resources nearby..so this is often a solution.. as a guy than does machine work from time to time i agree with him, handling other peoples goods is not fun.

I've often thought, why doesn't some body make a thread adapter for the Hatsan's. Where you cut the last part of the shroud off. Using only the barrel portion up to the nut. If the replacement nut had the Hatsan threads to m20x1m you could use any LDC on the market using m20. Making the Hatsan very quit.
Ive seen that Donnyfl has the adapter for the end of the LDC. But oh my how long it gets with it on there.

Seeing as the part that covers the barrel IS part of the QE system why keep that if you cut off the front section with the baffles?
I'd tension the barrel behind the new LDC and sell the whole QE system to someone that wanted it.

I got the LDC from Neil yesterday. It threads on the end of the .45 barrel nicely. It is very well made. Haven’t had a chance to test it out. Yes, a 16mm x 1.25 to 1/2 x 20 adaptor would do it. I don’t plan on cutting my shroud up. I will put it back on durning hunting. But it will be nice not to have to wear plugs while target shooting.

Got the .45 Bully back together and tested out Neil’s new style LDC. It really cut the bark down. But it’s not back yard quit. This gun is just plain loud to start with. I would still wear plugs at the bench, but it will be nice for hunting.

any one know the pictch on the shroude on dinnyl site says 18mmx1 is that 18mm x 1.5
-
No idea. Sorry
-
it may be fine thread they have a m18x1.00 and then goes to m18x1.50 i think
-
If you have a tap and do set, there should be a set of pitch gauges with them. I don’t have my rifle with me to check for you.
-
I'm not home to check the fit or thread size on the Hatsans I still have.
Are you wanting to screw into the QE shroud end?
Or the barrel end?
-
well on my guanlet boy made me a ldc it screws right on shroude and i think haveing muzzel break that lets air go back wards helps on sound on the kral i had i cut shroude down and screwed ldc right on the barrle threads 1/2 20 the shroude was for looks on the hatsan bully i wount to screw the ldc right to the barrle i read where the 45 cal was m16x1.25 thread i love to know the size on the 30 and 35 hoped some one would chine in with all the specks thank you guys for the reply if possable would love to know o/d of shroude and i/d also that way i dont haft to cut up my factory shroude i oprder a carbon fiber one
-
i hope the 30 cal is same size as 35 and 45 m16x1.25 i just ordered a tap hatsan got back with me the shroude its self is 49.95 from hat san was well pleased with the turn around time i dont have gun yet would love to know specks on177 to the 45 cal shroude o/d and i/d and bifrent barrle o/ds and what threads each barrle has

QE shrouds have two sizes - M23x1, and M27x1, depending on the model (shrouds that are 26 mm OD use M23x1, and those that are 28 mm use M27x1).
