The date stamps were used in 64 - 72. Maybe yours is older than you think.
Don't know about dating your rifle but I'd enjoy seeing the stock and forearm. Isn't it true that the stocks had more figure in the early guns?

'71 two changes; left handed version introduced and rear sight is now clip on. (it's sight is attached by 2 set screws)
Here's a wacky thought: Could this be a "lunch-box gun" created by a factory employee snagging a reject action and a nice stock to make a Streak for him/herself?Don R.
