Couple questions on restoring V1/V2 Crosman 760's

Hi everyone. I'm in the process of restoring a couple of V1 and V2 Crosman 760's. I read somewhere on this forum that it's fairly typical for the early variant Crosman 760's to release a "puff" of air back through the brass bolt after firing. Does anyone make an aftermarket brass bolt to provide a better seal and avoid the "puff" of air? Any workarounds on this?
Thanks in advance!

I haven’t messed with my oldest 760 yet. I actually had to replace my bolt because, when I found it, the bolt was broken and bent.
Some people cut a channel in the bolt and add an O ring. But, there isn’t much “meat” to work with. I’ve heard of people making their own bolts too.

Never did it but I'd cut the probe off the bolt and make a new one with an Oring groove, and press-fit it to the bolt. I do have a V1 and two V2, I know what you mean!
One of my V2 is converted to .22, I made a new Oringed steel bolt with a hollow probe for it, no more puff!

happymecanic...did you notice a measured increase in velocity without the puff? I'm not handy enough (or should say don't really have the right tools) to make my own bolt to seal it better in the breach but it sure seems to me that someone would be making that for a 760 since that's such a commonly restored pellet gun.

I never heard of anyone selling an aftermarket bolt with Oring for the 760, all the ones I saw were custom made by the owners or tuners. I agree it's surprising not to see at least one or two sources for this item.
I can tell I saw around 8 to 10% in fps increase with the Oringed bolt vs the ''bare'' one, and I saw that quite often too with other's rifles, so the mod is definitely worth it.
Maybe you could put a ''Wanted'' ad in the appropriate section of this fine forum, or someone will chime in?
