Marty-forgive a huge aside.I have a TX200 .177 15.25" BARREL-UNTHREADED-so not sure which model it is.But is the TX 200 considered to be a LOUD NASTY SHARP REPORT air rifle?I only use lead free 5.5 grain pellets-Daisy flat nosed- probably have something to do with the loud nasty report I put in a depowered spring from Maccari- It made a HUGE difference-normal report-Before the change it brought to mind how Illimakki (spelled wrong I think) described his LGU german air rifle-AFTER it had been slightly up-powered-He described the up-powered rifle's report as requiring ear plugs or muffs-and causing prolonged ear ringing.Anyway is the TX200 a thought to be a NOISY air rifle??Mine was much noisier/nastier than my 460 MAGNUM WITH 8.4 GRAIN lead free pelletsIs the TX200 in .177 considered a notably noisy rifle? (Oh it was powerful-LOTS of penetration in the crumpled shipping paper and cardboard I catch the pellets in-more than the .22 460 )Thanks-sorry about the aside-just wondering why you choose the TX200-other than it is beautiful with great trigger-pretty good reasons-shoots great tooCharlie
Very helpful info, thanks for sharing.I usually de-tune my spring guns with both accuracy and sound in mind.R
So louder 10m from muzzle than at 3 meters-Because it is bouncing off a wall-GETTING HIT TWICE by the wave.Surprised the 2nd wave arrives soon enough to contribute-How close is the nearest wall to the 10 meter pickup?ThanksCharliePS Maybe you could set up a big sheet of plywood near to the 3 meter pickup-see if it reads higher?ThanksCharlie
OK so what moderators are you going to test? You know it is easy to get an adaptor that would enable a threaded moderator to fit on an unthreaded barrel? -Y
MartyAre you intentionally using your basement because it doesn't seem to absorb/dissipate much sound energy-it just reflects it like a lamp in a GROWN ROOM covered with foil?So if this suppressor(silencer) works-you will get dramatic resultsSay why does everyone call them silencers?? For most of my life they were called silencers-but now everyone is picky and insists "suppressor" is more proper.Maybe it is-but SILENCER-like James Bond used on his dinky Beretta 25(or maybe Walther 380/or 32acp) is much cooler-PS I bought a Beretta 25 because James Bond used one(but I had the flip barrel 950 not the older one he had-I did not know the difference-and the flip barrel is cool)
