Has anyone removed the front sight from a Ruger Air Magnum?

I'm curious as to how the barrel looks underneath. Back when Diana went to a synthetic front sight on their 34's, they discontinued grooving the barrels for globe sights, opting for a bevel cut. Since the RAM's maker, Xisico, uses grooves on their XS28, I wonder if the barrels are the same? I'm not a fan of plastic sights, so a target globe might be a nice addition.

Thank you very much, guys! Smooth is better than beveled. Are the barrels completely blued? The process Diana used also left the end copper colored.

This is good to know! Thanks for the asking the question OP, and for all the community's responses.
Food for thought, but has anyone here ever removed the plastic front sight and then cut grooves into the barrel to allow for mounting of a traditional globe sight? I've been mulling around this idea for a future project, but don't know if it really a viable customization.

I guess it could be done but I would worry about getting them properly spaced and oriented. Depending upon the diameter of the barrel, there are slip and screw on sights and bases for powder burners that may be an easier choice. And some guns, such as my original Gamo 1250, which have a round post sight screwed into the muzzle break. When viewed it looks just like a square, flat topped Patridge. I think PA has a slip on globe by Air Venturi. Space Age plastic but I don't recall what it fits.

I believe the R.A.M. has a 16mm barrel, I'll have to check to confirm. The Air Venturi adapter is 15mm I think, but I'm not 100% certain.
The Ruger BlackHawk has a 15mm barrel for sure, and my Diana 34 "Classic" had a 16mm barrel, which was blued all the to the muzzle, and I think had a flat milled in. I pulled the front sight a while back to fit a moderator.
A cheap source for a front globe sight is Field Supply (.com), they have the Tru Glow fiber optic globe sight for $4.99, usually. Sometimes it fluctuates in price, but I just ordered two at the reduced price. There are some hit and miss reviews on this, but it seems the negative reviewers didn't know how to adjust how much light goes to the fiber optic bit. Two for $10, I figured it was worth the gamble and find out myself.
