I have a Williams peep on it and it is very difficult to get low enough on the stock without some contortions. I’ve actually noticed it on most air rifles of recent manufacture that I’ve shouldered. My old RWS Diana 45 is perfect.
I find the LGV so/so using iron sights...
Since old-style HW77K's aren't to be found as NOS and the used HW77K market is nonexistent here, I'm playing with the idea Yogi threw upthread: buying a new HW77K and taking a spokeshave to the pristine, scope-only comb. I'm an experienced woodworker, and making it work AND look good would be a realistic, as well as labor-intensive goal.
Oh, Apart from the Rekord trigger and perfect LOP, there isn't much I like about the 95L, anyway. Twangy-recoily, underpowered, not too accurate, and a drag to tear down / rebuild. I don't quite agree that reshaping the stock is a simple issue of time, though. (Or that time isn't a cost). And I have all the hand and power tools needed to shape wood. Those beech stocks have been expertly stained and lacquered, and the naked wood under the finish is a flesh-colored atrocity. Spot re-finishing would likely be out of the question, and stripping, then re-staining and refinishing the entire stock, checkering and all, is a massive workload on a difficult-to-stain wood species. YMMV.Why on earth would I go through that with a so-so airgun?
I didn't buy it for 18-20fpe power. I knew I was getting a 15-16fpe rifle when I bought it
