Realistically the cleanest and most productive energy source is Nuclear. Have no idea why more plants are not built. I know about the two major failures but modern plants are extremely safe.

"Water" is the reason I plan to install rainwater catchment systems with my upcoming construction projects. I have enough roof surface area currently (not including the other structures that are planned) to essentially meet my needs, assuming I conserve, which I already have done, and have done so for decades.
Houston Syndrome. Pour enough concrete and channel enough water and you have less percolation into aquifers. Then you have runaway runoff, not replenished aquifers that are being pumped out faster than they replenish under normal circumstances.Factor in fire-compaction of the soil etc, loss of biodiversity and depletio0n of plants (which disturb the soil thus increasing water intake) and the cycle gets worse. Now shift 80% of the water to crops that are notoriously thirsty and then ship 80% of the produce out of country.Money is really awesome, but ya can't drink it.

Quote from: Horatio on October 18, 2021, 05:05:52 PMIt’s nice to see you posting this. My wife would be really happy to see it as this is a personal interest of hers. Speaking of out there futuristic ideas, wouldn’t it be interesting if there was some program like the Peace Corps or like the national guard or the civilian conservation corps where you could “enlist” to get some basic training and travel to a piece of desertified land in some area where reclamation would be critical, With some minimal support (funded somehow or another lol). send those out who enjoy the idea or who are unhoused or struggling with life and need a second chance. I’m not talking about the mentally ill or addicted you may need some other type of thing first time in those who run house due to forest fires or family tragedies or medical bankruptcy or whatever. Have some program where they can either keep and settle on the land and/or perhaps sell it when its value increases or something clever that I can’t think of.Have waves of settlers establishing forests and reversing desertification to kind of balance the waves of settlers that do the opposite. I am sure there are those who all have reasons why it’s impossible undesirable but assuming good intentions for the moment, what a cool thing that could be?
