I see in that manual they recommend against dry firing (they called it dry snapping). I don't understand how this can be harmful to a pneumatic gun. ?

I don't understand how this can be harmful to a pneumatic gun. ?I could be wrong, ( I usually am, just ask my wife ), but, I think the reasoning behind this is that when the valve is devoid of any air, other than atmospheric pressure, the valve spring isn't strong enough to overcome all of the hammer's momentum. This could result in a bent exhaust valve stem, deformed/broken rear valve assembly, or, if done repeatedly, could possibly crack the solder joint, that holds the valve in place, rendering the gun basically useless.
