Thanks for your reply.Hi Martin, I'm suspecting your first flat-top piston installment has lightly crushed the back of the valve, where it butts against the dimple in the comp tube, hence why your stock piston isn't holding up now. You can remedy that either by shiming the piston cup (plastic from a margarine or coffee jar cover works well), or repairing/replacing the rear valve half. Always a good idea to pin the valve when flat-topping to avoid that. HTH.Francois
