Is there a list of calibers and makers out there currently available? Would be interested in seeing the price of different brands and everything. "Precharged pneumatic air guns, charged from an external high compression source such as an air compressor, air tank or an external hand pump are legal for deer but must fire a projectile (excluding air bolts) of at least .35 caliber in diameter and at least 150 grains in weight with a minimum muzzle velocity of 600 feet per second." From my states DNR.So have been curious as to what is out there that would be comparable to others that are out there. Basically a comprehensive list of what is currently out there. Is there anything like that or anything we can compile to help others?
Lets start low and go up ...AEA Challenger Series 357 and up.Seneca Recluse and Siblings 357 up to .50, I have the Recluse, and a Wing Shot, WS will even get you there for 40 yards and under.Hatsan Pile Driver .45 and .50 I have the .50 Was in limbo waiting for the Umarex Hammer and the Texans, so far I am happy I went Hatsan. I would be all over Evanix, but they mostly seem short on the power stats, and not sure there are any power mods
These types of threads keep coming up. Something to consider regarding modifications, you must keep in mind law enforcement will not accept your claims of 300 FPE. All the Wardens have to rely on is the manufactures printed materials. I have wondered this about my own rifle. Lucky for me the literature has it producing 275 fpe, well above our state's minimum.
https://tpwd.texas.gov/regulations/outdoor-annual/hunting/air-gun-arrow-gun-regulationsPre-charged pneumatic air guns must fire a projectile of at least 30 caliber in diameter and at least 150 grains in weight with a minimum muzzle velocity of 800 feet per second or any combination of bullet weight and muzzle velocity that produces muzzle energy of at least 215 foot pounds of energy.
All of the bigger bore rifle are fairly ugly looking, in my eyes anyway. The ones that are of a more traditional look are either not being made or have a huge wait time. Still not sure about the AirForce guns, they just look weird in my eye, though I know they are more than able to produce the power needed
YEAAHH!!! My .457 AEA Challenger arrived today... Can not wait !! Need to cast up some slugs for it today.. Wondering what to size them to.. I have a few sizing dies from NOE to try...
