losing air over time - what are things to check/oil?

I used to be able to 10 pump my daisy 880 and leave it by the door for hours, then if a rat came to our fruit trees I could quickly pick it up and take a shot.
I've noticed now that this first shot isn't accurate anymore. I think it's probably losing air.
I've had this 880 for 2 months now and haven't serviced it or oiled it once. What are things that I should be checking? Is there a good guide or video that you know of?
Thanks!

Hard to say.
A chrony would tell the story if it is losing pressure.
However...............
Daisy does not recommend leaving tha 880 type of rifles pumped up for long periods of time.
Only thing I can think of is that leaving the chamber pressurized may deform the softish sealing nose of the valve stem....
Possibly your experience is lending credibility to their caveat ??

As far as oiling, if the felt pad on the pump head is dry, a little 30 wt. nd oil on it will take care of that.
If it’s losing air say over night, it’s time to re seal, but it usually takes thousands of shots before I have to do that to mine.
Of course if you keep it pumped and ready all the time, I guess it could happen sooner.
If you have to reseal and daisy does’nt have them in stock. One #11 Danco ring seal on the pump head and another #11 on the abutment behind the chamber seal, and a #7 Danco in the valve should fix it right up.
Usually the 2 #11’s do the job, but sometimes it takes the valve ring too.
If that does’nt stop it you may need a chamber seal cup from daisy.
You can try google for “ disassembly and reseal of a daisy 880”.,.. that’s how I learned to do it.
There’s a guy with a video on using the Danco seals on you tube somewhere.
Ok, I was posting while Ronno was... yep, could definitely be the valve stem nose... I need to order a few valve stems myself. I just replaced the seals in a 880 and it still had a slow leak... gotta be the valve stem on that one, but i’ve Had that particular rifle for years.
I only leave my 880’s pumped for a few hours at a time only when hunting. The rest of time I keep the pressure off as Ronno said!

I can't add any technical advice to what's been said, but do have a story...
A few years ago, My neighbor who I've known (more or less) for over 25 years waived me over one day. (It's a rural area, I only have three neighbors in the area, two of which are snow birds.) He said "Hey, do you know much about airguns?" I replied that I knew a thing or two, but wasn't a professional or anything. He noticed I was shooting airguns often, and hoped I could help. He said "My airgun is just like that one you were shooting " pointing over to my Diasy 880 I left leaning on the barn. "It's hissing when I pump it and I don't think it's making full power. I'd hate to replace it, I've had it a long time". I knew it was his only airgun, and he did in fact did have it a looong time. It was a "few years" old when I met him in the mid 90's...
Anyways, I had to mess with him a bit. With a serious, yet concerned face I said "Oh no, that's not good ". For a second I had seen that it really bothered him, the 880 (or 881) was more than just a tool to him, it had sentimental value. I quickly said "you're gonna need some 30wt ND oil, most likely will fix the issue. He looked at me like I was crazy. I asked "have you ever oiled your gun". He replied "No, didn't know I had to." I said "flip your gun over so the underside is up, extend the pump arm and on the piston you should see a sponge, hopefully. Give it a few drops of oil and fire it a few times". I was hoping just some oil was needed, I told him maybe Daisy had a re-seal kit , maybe $20 at most, and I'd get him the information if needed.
The next day he waived me over again and said "thanks a bunch, I think that gun is shooting harder than when it was new". I laughed and said glad I could help. I can say while I'm outside, I can definitely hear the "snap" when he's taking a shot now. He has used that one airgun to clear all types of nuisance critters from his property since the 80's, not sure of when he got it. The Daisy design is very good.
