Daisy Model 880 mods & improved performance

Let me start by saying that I have a "renewed love" for my Daisy Model 880 (Powerline) air rifle. I grew up shooting a friends "old style" 880 when we were teenagers. There was a lot of senseless damage done in those times. I pulled mine out of the closet in an attempt to exterminate some squirrels that have been tearing up the house and landscape. I had the original scope that came with the gun and used it in my first attempt to "snipe" the first predator. Luck had it, I dropped it on the first try! Second attempt at the next one, didn't work. So I went to the target to see what I was getting at 25 yds. Results: 3-4" pattern. I then discovered I had a Simmons (3-9 x 37) scope that I inherited from my Dad and immediately replaced the cheaper scope. Another vast improvement to a simple rifle.
I started reading "mods" for the 880 and improving the accuracy and this what led me to GTA. Wow, what a abundance of information!! I started with the "credit card" trigger mod and polished the trigger arm contact surfaces and especially the sear point. Whilst at it, I chose to sand & polish the trigger to better resemble a vintage high powered rifle. (see pic) Next, I filled the But-stock with silicone to add some weight. I then had heard that cleaning the barrel would help. Never thought about cleaning the barrel, but wow, what a lot of grime!! This will surely improve the pellet trajectory.
So, I put her all back together and went to the "25 yd. target". Man!! The trigger was so much smoother and the rifle felt better in my hands with the extra weight in the stock! After some adjustments, I was hitting a 1-3/4" pattern at 25 yds., consistently!!
Thanks everyone that has posted something in regards to the 880 and making it a better rifle!!!
Best regards,
Matt B

Hey, Matt, don't stop there! Experiment with some different pellets and different pellet weights to see what she likes the best!

Thanks "Matchstickshooter"!
I will try experimenting with other pellets. I have viewed a few posts on "best pellets" for air rifles. I am sure each rifle will have a different result based on contributing factors. As you said, "
see what she likes
"!!
