Can anyone recommend a relatively svelte or compact scope with side focus parallax adjustment? I'm talking about something in the 2-7 or 3-9 x32/40 range.
Tom what kind of gun is it for? What are you looking to do with it? Where do you needs it to focus down to?Your price range?
I have the UTG 3-12x32 SF non-IR on a 2289, so far no issues at all. Focus down to 3 yards and very good glass for the money. Also have the Hawke Airmax 2-7x32 SF on a Diana 24C, as clear as my 3-9x40 SF Airmax, and bullet proof.

Here they are anyways , Utg on the left, Discovery in the middle, Hawke on the right:

I bought one of these a few years ago and it's held up on my springers. It's very light and not too long. The reticle is a little weird, but thin enough. The glass and mechanics are definitely good for the moneyhttps://www.sportsmans.com/hunting-gear-supplies/optics-binoculars-scopes-rangefinders/rifle-scopes-red-dots/bushnell-legend-3-9x40mm-rifle-scope-doa-qbr/p/1640718Have fun!
Yes, I understand what you mean about the more alive colors, as I have only Zeiss glass on my powder burning hunting rifles. I would put it on my air rifles too if they made something that would focus close up like what we need for airguns.

I recently installed a Hawke straight 4x Vantage with a standard 100 yard fixed parallax on my Hw50 and it's in focus down to 10-11 yards. It's the higher mag stuff that won't focus down closely. This is my primary hunting airgun and I can clearly see and shoot targets anywhere between 10 and 100yds without touching any adjustments. It's really nice not having to fuss with adjustments. The only thing is I have to make sure I'm looking straight down the scope to eliminate any parallax errors. Didn't take long to get used to. That in mind you might want to consider a quality rimfire scope. Rimfire scopes the parallax is usually set around 50 yards and will focus closer and have less parallax than traditional centerfire scopes like the Hawke above. If you like good glass, the Leopold Freedom rimfire scopes have the parallax set to 60 yards. They are light and compact. The should be in focus down to ten yards under 6x. At ten yards you certainly don't need even 6x. They make a nice 2-7x33 with a BDC reticle that I want to get as soon as it's available again. Anyway something to think about.
