I was having trouble with the reticle fast focus adjustment on the Optima scope that I had on my dominator. I had a brand new Athlon Neos 4-12x40 just itching to go somewhere, so it did, right on top of the dominator. After sight in I moved my target from 52 to 57 yards and this is the first group of 5 shot with AA 10.34gr. at this Birchwood Casey target. 2 through the bottom hole. It all measures .797". Not too bad but with some more practice with this combo, I see .500" and better happening in the near future. The Optima 3-9x40 AO was pretty clear but nowhere near the level of this Athlon.I shot this group on 7 power. On 4 power with this Athlon, I can see the pellet holes clearly at 57 yards! Great glass. Plus the duplex reticle is very sharp at all ranges.

The hole that the left caliper pointer is marking is the one that 2 went through. When I shot the group, the Birchwood Casey logo was at the top.
That's why I said that the bottom hole had 2 through it.

Nice shooting. FWIW, the Optima scopes don't and never did have a good track record for lasting on their high powered springers. Been a few reports of them working fine for pumpers, CO2 or anything with no recoil but magnum guns kill them in short order. I got a box around here with 4 or 5? maybe that came with guns and never got used...lol.

Thanks Steve, I put that Optima on an old break barrel that I mostly use for plinking and it has little to no recoil. It's rammed. Works well on that gun but for surgical target work, it won't do for me. Hunting scope at best.

I have a .177 Dominator carbine springer. Love it. At 50 yards I can put 5 out of 5 pellets in a 3inch by 2 inch bullseye all day.

I have relegated my Optima scopes to pumpers and rimfires. They really aren’t that bad if you are willing to adjust the objective. They can be adjusted to be reasonably clear but the higher magnifications will always be problematic.
I have a Barska badged 3-9X32 that is identical to both of my optima 3-9X32’s so that should give you some idea of where Hatsan is sourcing these scopes from.
