Baikal 46M - breach slide grinding against underside of barrel

Hi all, I've searched for info on this for a while without success, I'm hoping someone here may have experience with this
I've had my baikal for a year and I love it!
However, when the breach mechanism slides forward during cocking, the U-shaped piece immediately underneath the barrel grinds against it, mostly on one side only. This seems to have become more pronounced, or the wear is now simply more visible. A small, but noticeable scraped section about 1mm wide and the length of the movement of the forward breach-part.
Clearly not ideal or normal, but I suppose perhaps something within the realm of slightly finicky build or assembly quality...
Basically, does anyone know the cause of this or have a solution?
I'd be very grateful if I could somehow correct this issue!!
Much appreciated

Hi Charlie,
Could you attach an image of the wear area, please? That would make it clear where, and how bad. Assuming it is not normal.
I think you can't post external links till you have (20?) posts, but you can attach images. Just look under the posting window and click on "attachments and other options".
My general attitude towards any part of any gun that goes shiny after use is to lubricate it, as that is clearly sliding contact area.
Your question is, is it normal for the 46M?

Hi thanks very much for the response,
Seems my reply didnt get posted - I realise now that my photos were too large. Trying again
I've definitely kept that area oiled but it doesn't seem to help much
Taking the photos showed me that it is worse than I thought and on both sides of the barrel.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Thanks Charles
Your image is clear. I just went and looked at my 46M and it does not have those contact areas. I found a video of a pistol that has such marks - near bottom of this reply.
I think the difference is how flat the actuator bar is that opens the breech latch. This flat spring is very flat in my pistol, and lays evenly on top of the compression tube. I can see that if this flat bar is slightly curved, it may lift the breech latch enough to cause rubbing on the lower sides of the barrel.
I took some very fast pictures of my pistol - bottom of this reply. One is a top view, showing clearance between the barrel and the plastic "legs" that engage the flat metal spring. The other is a not very clear side view. Neither side shows any contact.
I don't think it possible for the transfer bar (flat spring with lip at each end) to be installed back to front - and upside down. The flat spring is not symmetrical and only fits properly one way round. The image directly below this paragraph shows that flat spring that unlocks the breech latch and cocks the valve. It is from the 46 M disassembly instructions found at this link:
https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=153388.msg155687765#msg155687765
Two minutes in to this video, the flat spring transfer bar is removed. At 6:10 it is reinstalled. Note that one end of this flat spring is wider; the other taller.
This video goes much further in taking the pistol apart, but it seems to have
wear marks similar to your pistol's
. Can be seen at 6:35 into the video:
If the above satisfies you that some of the pistols develop rub marks, then just keep that area lightly oiled or greased and ignore it. Else, a deeper look may be an idea - starting with images from other angles to see proximity of parts.
Images below are of my 46M. No rub marks either side:

Thank you - the contact marks in the second video are exactly like mine.
Its good to at least know that this is something that happens on some of the pistols...
In any case you've got me thinking.
Two things:
1) The actuator bar on my pistol does not have any up/down play or space between it and the top of the compression tube - i.e. its lying flat and as flush as possible with no light showing between it and the compression tube.
2) The breach latch on mine does have a bit of space and play between it at the main compression tube 'Frame/brace' below it. In contrast, in the disassembly photo (1st pic in your reply) the latch seems to lie absolutely flush against the top of that main frame/brace. I can depress the latch a tiny bit, but the forward end that the actuator connects to does not seem to improve... forced up by the actuator lip I suppose.
Seems to me the simplest might be to remove the actuator and take the lip down a tad with a dremel, it may allow the breach latch to have more space?
The pistol is fine, it shoots well, its more that it irks me that its contacting there...even if it is slight. I'll look into it. If I do have a go at the actuator arm I'll post the result
Thanks again for your time in responding, very useful

Charlie,
I am sure that you could reduce the actuator bar lip a little to prevent the barrel contact. The question is, by how much? If you overdo it, the lip may slip out of the slot on the mating part. Or chew the mating part.
I would not take off more than perhaps 0.3 mm (three office paper thicknesses) before cleaning the part and trying it in the pistol. Of course, you would need to take the part out and put it back in, so there will be temptation to take more off to not have to go back. I think that taking off more than 0.5 mm would be looking for trouble.
Clean the metal dust off the spring before putting it back. You don't want any steel particles inside the compression tube, or the latter may be scratched and not seal properly. Yes, the top of the compression tube has a slot all the way through it where the other lip of the actuator spring reaches the back of the piston.
I would be inclined to place a piece of 320 grit abrasive paper on a flat surface right up to the edge of a table. Then hold the flat bar between my fingers and just let it follow the existing flat feature of the lip to sand it down. When close to the goal, switch to 400 grit.
Break the sharp edges and corners created by removing metal from the face of the lip before finally installing the part to use it. Leaving them sharp will tend to have the steel scrape away at the mating plastic part.
A Dremel may be faster, but it will be much harder to take off an even amount, and to keep the part flat and perpendicular.
You should measure the part first with a caliper, so that you know how much you are taking off...
Or, as the barrel is already marked, you could just keep the bright metal lubed and leave it as is...

Good point about the dremel...it would have to be a very careful job, so the sandpaper option would give me more confidence to try
I'm not in a rush to do so, but nice to have a second opinion on my proposed method!
Cheers
