I'm in northern IL. Round Lake Beach.

remo09: Juda is about a 2.5 hour drive for me. Not something I could do all the time, but it might be fun to meet up and shoot now and then.

iron: Whereabouts in WI are you?

I'm just west of Milw. I shoot my Tau 200 Senior on a 7m range in my basement to practice for indoor smallbore gallery matches and Highpower matches. Daniel Boone Conservation Club near Holy Hill has Saturday morning air pistol and rifle leagues during the winter. If any of you are smallbore shooters, we shoot in Waukesha on Thursday evenings Oct-Apr.

Jim,
The place you mentioned looks very nice and is very close to my home. But I shoot RWS 48 .177, not a serious match gun. Any activity use this kind of air rifle in your club? and when is the range open to public, I see they have a 200m range and indoor range mentioned in their front page.

Boone is a members only range, but you can stop out anytime to look around. I don't believe they have any "Hunter" air rifle leagues.

Im in Wisconsin, New Berlin. No one I know of shooting around here but I am very new to air guns other than my daisy powerline that took a rabit and a bunch of moles about 15 years ago, mom and dad were lax and let me hunt anything that hunted our landscaping lol. I mainly shoot target in my apartment and brother in laws back yard. I plan on getting a hunting license and going after small game asap. Currently learning how to shoot a Stoeger X20 and a Crosman Optimus(fiances gun).

WOW...i havent checked this state thread in months, glad to see a few around.

I am in the Plymouth area, about an hour north of Milwaukee, 25 minutes east of FonDulac.

My air rifles have been put on the back shelf the last few months, but they are calling me everyday, i just need to listen to them now...haha!

What are the guns calling you? I am now looking for a cheap Chinese gun to learn on/plink with. Anyone in Wisconsin know of any places that sell such rifles? I am in the Milwaukee area but love road trips so driving is no big deal if there are cheap rifles to be found.

Note to all, if you have not been to Gander Mt.'s new Gun World they have an excellent selection of firearms and a fair amount of AG's. The prices on the AG's are pretty lousy though. For instance I was looking for a cheap dot sight for my 1377 and found Daisy's for sale for $5 ABOVE retail aka 20.00. Now I understand a brick and mortar selling for retail but above retail is a little ridiculous.

Stay warm WI.

Cheap chinese guns can be had at Walmart. There probally your best cheapest bet. The ruger air hawk and beeman duo caliber are a good start. Break barrel spring guns require a special hold. Look up the artillery hold and practice it. Also walmart carry's crosman premium ammo. And they do work great in most of the chinese guns.
Good Luck, shoot straight, God Bless.

Hello everyone,

Smokin Paul from Milwaukee Wis.
Just got back into airguns after discovering all the awesome airguns that now exist. Bought a Crossman 760 and found out they are mostly plastic! Bought several more airguns and looking for someplace to shoot my .22 Crosman Titan Nitro.
Would love to get together with other air gunners if only for a cup of coffee to talk air guns. If you have a place to shoot I would love to hear about it.

Leave 'em in your smoke!

I am from Kewaskum, about thirty miles north of milwaukee. No shortage of places to shoot round here, the hard part is finding time. If anyone locally looking to buy a gun I am thinking of parting with a b21 177 caliber. I am always willing to meet other shooters who enjoy the hobby.

i know. i live in casco, just east of greenbay. i get my tank filled in g.b., and so far, i've only heard of one other airgunner in the area. can't get the dive shop to tell me who he is, though. not that it really matters much. i drive a truck for a living and i'm gone most of the time. no time for a social life. by the time i get home, i've usually got a "honey-do" list a mile long, especially in the summer. i still manage to get to the range quite a bit, but, not so much hunting lately. seems like every time i've been home lately, the weather has been &^^&.

I was up there icefishing at the end of Feb.  Minona and Wabesa.  Had to leave the day the storm rolled in, so missed out on Mendota.   I wanna get back for some summer fishing on the Madison chain.  Spent a lotta good days up there (Kegonsa and Wabesa), as a kid, in a bus camper.

I live in Waupaca where I belong to the local Conservation Club which has a very good outdoor range.  I also set up a 7m range in the basement for fun and games.  On the down side, I also have a home in Sheboygan where airgun firing is prohibited.  Sheboygan will allow airsoft guns under ridiculously strict rules.

Pleasant Prairie area, There is a Field Target club in Bristol called BAGA. Right now it shut down for work on the Field Target Range but it will be up and shooting by the end of August. Supposed to be a great place to shoot.

BAGA is a phenomenal place to shoot. I started shooting FT there and really enjoyed their course. Once they get it back up and running anyone who can make it should definitely come out. Top notch guys a really great place to be. I believe the sight in range will have up to or maybe over 100 yards so all of you long range bench shooters feel free to come out too!

I'll tell you that it is not Near the problem, that you may think.   If you know anyone that is halfway mechanically inclined, you 2 will easily do it.
If not, and you want to spend a buck... you can contact Mike Mellick, in Iowa, and send it to him for some work.  He's a member here, and has a gate here as well.   Look for the Flying Dragons Air Rifle Gate, and ask Mike personally.

It defiantly seems to be getting warmer. I usually start fishing from my boat in late march and that isn't to far off. Next weekend is the Milwaukee sport show. I hope the following weekend will be nice enough to spend some time at the range. If you modify a member search by state you will see there are three pages of wi members. It should be easy to find others near where you are or where you are going. As always keep other wi members in the loop when shooting so we can have a chance to get together.

Hello Brad, the weather I think will finally start turning around after this weekend it is looking like. Signs of spring are showing up here at work. Customers starting to bring their boats in for service. I am waiting for the starlings to show up here on the farm, they haven't been around much this winter. Hang in there bud, good times are a comin up. I usually don't take my boat out till June after my annual pdog shooting trip to South Dakota. May have to come up and have a shootin session with ya this summer, bout an hour and forty five minute drive for me..

A nice place to get together in the dairy state would be Hatfield.  Situated on Lake Arbutus on the boundries of Clark and Jackson counties and the Black River.  Both counties have excellent campgrounds right in town and there are some great bar and grills.

I've been enjoying Hatfield since the late 70's.  Be really easy to set up an airgun get together there.  Early September might be ideal.

Honestly, there is not much out in this part of the state. The two options are in the west part of the state at Trenier Outdoors in Sparta, WI and BAGA in the east. State parks do not allow target shooting, airguns included, for the most part, so finding a spot is difficult.

Almost enough air gunners in Wisconsin to have an annual get together and shoot.
we all would have to drive 1/2 a day to get to a central location, accommodations or camping are a must.

Nice to see i'm not totally alone. though I have stirred up some local interest in air guns , and have found a few others in my local area who are not internet savvy.

I'd love to see a fun shoot in WI. I'm in the middle of the state so I'd be open to almost anywhere. I only wish I had the place to host it myself. There are some decent public ranges around. However, as the rest of you probably already know, campgrounds fill up fast in our beautiful state. I would be happy if we could even get a small group together for a day. Just as an example, there is a huge public shooting range in Mosinee open from early May to Nov 20. sat and sun 9-5. $3 all day pass. Also another in Stevens Point that I have never been to. What do you guys have near you? Lets start throwing out ideas or it will never happen.

I was kind of thinking of your neck of the woods , maybe even a little more south, might attract some  from MN and IO also, maybe UP.

Here, during the summer the dane county sheriffs range is open to the public.
$10 a shooter.

If we reserve one with enough notice, We could theroetically have an entire range to our self, 100 yards wide, 100 yards long.

They have several ranges of varying widths.

One is about 30-50 yards wide and 100 long. With 10-20 Airgunners, the smaller one would be big enough.

Since we are shooting airguns, they may park us off in the grass in a semi private area..

Don't know until we ask.,

I will do some more demographics as this seems to be catching on.

South does make sense. I just took a quick look at those who put themselves on the member map. It appears the biggest concentration of WI members is in the Milwaukee area and second Madison. Also there is a huge group in the Chicago area, some of which "Tater for example" have already expressed interest. On the other hand some may want to come north to take a break.

Like most other stuff I have experienced though, if you wait for everyone to first agree on a date and place it never happens. The sooner we get some ideas the better. I'll keep looking for options as well and post any I find.

All Ideas welcome. Lets her them.

Awesome idea.

I will start making inquiries at the range, I am a regular there.
They don't reopen to the public for the summer until late March or April.

But will post info when I get it.

Definitely.
If it's in the lower/middle part of the state I'll do my best to get there. I will probably have to bring the wife though if that's alright. She shoots too.

http://www.bagaclub.com/ (http://www.bagaclub.com/) has their airgun field open nearly every saturday during the warm months, once a month for Field Target competition. During the winter they have indoors. They are in Kenosha, WI.

On the west side, Trenier Outdoors has a target range up at their shop in Sparta, WI, plus they are also starting an airgun club.

Airgun only, and out to about 100 yards as currently setup.

Cool, I have no issue with airgun only,
the only reason I haven't been to baga yet is my work schedule, Sunday's and Monday's off.
Non negotiable.

If I take vacation, the company has to fly in a flex manager just to cover my time off.

Ouch. I hear ya.

I can talk to the range officers and see if I can convince one to come out on a Sunday and open up the field once weather gets better.

I just found out Wisconsin Rapids has a public range. Open year round sun up till sundown. 8 lanes ranging from pistol to 100 yards. No rangemaster. I plan to stop by and check it out next time I am close.

Well, I finally made time to check out the range in Wisconsin Rapids/Port Edwards. It has 8 lanes. All have one ambidextrous bench on a concrete slab and none are covered. The first four are 25 yards long, then two are 50, and two are 100. Each of the 8 lanes is about 40 yards away from the next. I have no idea why I didn't take any pics of the range, only of the rules.

So, if anyone is in the area or wishes to try it out, post it here. Also, post any other get togethers.
