Not sure if this is really belongs in the bargain gate or not but Utah has this for 399.

I do Like the stock, am hesitant about that unsupported rail on top. 177 only.

Looks like a good price, if one needs a bigger hole they have another option at a good price too.

thats an awesome price .. that rail is rock solid and isnt a problem on them .. i havent dealt with a 177 yet, but the two biggest issues 'to me' with any of the craftsman lineup are super tight choke and the poppet spring needs the ends ground flat deburred and polished .. both issues are just polishing and elbow grease, just careful with the crown using the gritty toothpaste, focus most the work on the lead into the choke point dont hit the crown too much .. also be prepared to replace orings, daunting to a neophyte, but easily measured and sourced on ebay for peanuts .. every craftsman i have has had damaged orings out of the box, lots of sharp edges that need wiped off with 600 ..

I like them both except for pulling the cocking lever out of my ear....

I didnt actually get an akela, was just making mention of yonder affordable price. I was enthusiastic about Utah carrying AEA's line now as back-roads pointed out. Monday before last I ordered the aea chall-pup in .25 from them, 5 days to my door.

Good tip. I just purchased one in .22 a few weeks back. Maybe it needs a sibling at that price! It's a tax free holiday in my state this weekend so that even sweetens the pot more.

I am disappointed with the accuracy of my Akela 177cal even after doing the bore refinements and other mods. It’s been 6weeks since Crosman ordered a replacement bbl under warranty for me and still nothing. My Cayden 22cal is a tack driver so I expected the same from this rifle.
I have to agree with not liking the cocking lever being placed where it is. Atheistic's aside I expected accuracy to compare to it’s cousin the Cayden but sadly not so. If someone else’s experience here can help I’m all ears..

My .177 is very accurate out to 50 yards. Only mods are to shorten the hammer spring. No barrel band or scope rail support. I’ve cleaned the barrel and installed smaller diameter baffles to quiet it down some more.
The first round from each magazine tends to be less accurate (see spring force damaging skirt?) but the rest are fine.
Best of luck to you in getting a new barrel.

Well I actually did get an akela in 177....UA lowered it to 299. So why not? My example has a nicely figured stock, if a little dry.
Came with both mags cracked on the loading plate. UA sent two more one of which was cracked. Hope they hold up.
Gun arrived with 3k in the tank. I shot three mags testing noise level down to 2.5k. Did the felt and hair curler in the shroud trick. It needs no extra moderation which is nice. Then I cut the spring down to 2.57" and shot two mags worth while manipulating the TP knob for a low of 599fps and a high of 1015fps using 7.9 gr cphp's and the hammer spring aduster at zero turns. Stopped at 2k ...so 70 shots with 1000 psi ---thats pretty efficient.
Haven't mounted optics yet so have no idea as to what it will do accuracy wise. Am waiting for cp domes 10.5 gr to shoot for effect.
Also made note that the singular stock screw will unfortunately effect the barrel clearance. Too tight and the reciever gets out of true with the airtube. Am thinking floating the reciever in the stock might relieve some barrel height issues with the akela.
