Does anyone know the dimensions of the OEM spring in the new FWB sport? I had written the details down when I had my gun apart, but I've lost the notebook. On a different note I, along with many others, previously had difficulty stopping my scope slipping on the FWB Sport rail. FWIW I ended up bailing on a set of BKL double strap rings as no amount of cleaning, tightening and retightening could stop them creeping backward. I've ended up with a regular set of UTG rings that came with the currently mounted scope. Torqued to approx 30 in/lbs they haven't moved a mm after 3 tins of pellets. Should note that I have a nailed in steel guide fitted that has calmed this gun down a tremendous amount and made it a much pleasanter thing to shoot.

I'll take some measurements and post. Just purchased 2 FWB Sports from AoA, due to arrive later this week. What scope and scope mount did you end up with? Model numbers for both would be helpful if available. Want to know what I'm up against. I read somewhere there is a scope mount designed specifically for the FWB "scallops" on top of the receiver. Need to re-find that info...I've found that 16-18 in-lbs on the tube, and 30 in-lbs on the base, are in the sweet spot of most (if not all) scope manufacturer recommendations. I always check the data sheet first to be sure, but pretty much always use these numbers. These hold scopes on all my guns just fine. The 30 in-lbs in particular feels pretty darn tight doesn't it?! But works well.
Thank you James that is most helpful.Chris, I have a nailed in steel spring guide installed and it made all the difference in quieting the gun down. I had also tried an ARH piston seal but it was too tight a fit, and I was not confident enough to size it with my limited resources and ham fists, so the OEM seal went back in. The tight spring guide eliminated all of the twang and a good deal of the noise, but I think it would still benefit from a piston sleeve. I understand that the Vortek Vac-Seal 30 for the HW80/R1 is a perfect fit, so at the next tear down a sleeve and Vac-Seal will be two additions.
