Yep, used it the first time last week.  Sent an air rifle in a box 35x13x5 15#, $450 insurance for 20 bucks from mi to ny.  Stock and action were separated to get a shorter box.

Only way to get a little better deal is to know someone who has a Pitney Bowes CBA like what I got for my business. Pirateship is decent, but I usually get 20-25% more off than they do.

I just shipped off an air rifle with dimensions of 46"x12"x4" at 17lbs for $16.80 USPS Parcel Select.

My typical rifle shipment cost around $15.00 via UPS with PS

Parcel Select is usually much higher, and service not worthy (censor corrected for another term).......

I have seen people on ebay really fudge dimensions and weight using USPS to get good rates.
I had a Crosman 362 ship priority and the cost to the shipper was about $5.00 !!

I purchased a rifle case from the bay for about $23.00, including shipping!
It was drop shipped from Wally world.
But it was missing a latch, so someone had to pay to return it........not !
That box was 50" long.....wlulda cost more to ship it than I paid...er...gonna get refunded......

I have a Crosman 2175W en route to me now from Florida.
The auction quoted shipping as $49.00 via USPS Large Flat Rate Box.
First, there IS NO Flat Rate Box large enough to ship a rifle in.
Second, From what I see, the flat rate shipping fee for the large box is $21.95 mol.

The shipper did NOT respond to my requests to address shipping before I bid, while I was winning the bid, and after the auction closed (I won.)
So, he shipped it Fedex Ground, and it cost him $62.50 !!!

When the rifle arrives I will measure, weigh it and get a shipping price thru Pirateship.com for UPS.........

The box was 50 or 52 inches long.  I wanted to double box over the original box. This was just my desire to send the best possible kit.

I concede that separating the stock from the action would be very beneficial to lowering cost. It may also reduce the possibility of damage.

The last rifle that I bought from a manufacturer came assembled,  but the only screw was loose in the box.

I can't understand why manufacturers don't send long guns with the action separated from the stock.

With UPS, anything over 48" drives up the price, but, I still believe it to be better than UPSP.......

I just shipped a 51 inch long box weighing 19 pounds for $47 and change.  Why are you paying so much?  Do you have a UPS account?

I received the 2175 today but have not opened it as yet.
Per the auction I paid $49.00 for shipping
The seller paid Fedex $62.50
Thru Pirateship.com, the UPS rate would have been $14.34.............

Woulds saved us BOTH some serious coin.............

I don't know if this is the norm with Pirateship but I feel like I need to report this.
I recently received and item that was shipped to me using this service. The mail carrier said there was postage due and Betty Lou had to pay it before she could get the item... I was at work at the time.
It was only a few bucks but still....
Is this common?

Back when I had the Wildflower nursery I was using the usps shipping and postage app, but I had to drop off at PO to ship, they seemed unfamiliar with this and always double checked my measurements, most times I was good, but sometimes had to pay a bit more to ship. HTH

Had I been home I would have questioned it. Betty Lou didn't feel it was a big enough deal to question.

I have never had that happen; only additional billing after the fact when UPS said that the package dimensions were different than stated.
One of thise was shipped by me. I appealed and won.
The other was one inbound to me that I had purchased a label based on the shipper's given dimensions, and he was wrong.
I had to pay that one. But, in both cases I had purchased the label, and they were both UPS......
Never had a problem with mail, other than their outrageous rates........
