If the detergent would be harmful to o-rings, the o-ring seal on the oil filter would fail.
Thanks for the replies, everyone. I got some of the right stuff at the local Wally's for $4. It should last for a long time.I'm still curious about the second part of the question, however. Does the pink stuff from Daisy's rival actually do damage? I have read opinions from Daisy gurus on here that 30 weight ND oil is the ONLY lubricant to use in an 880, as if anything else will either lead to premature failure of seals or o-ring or reduced performance. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Many folks like to think what they heard must be true because so and so said so and so and so knows what he is talking about. You may be surprised to find out what is actually in Secret Sauce... I find it really funny that someone told me how bad it is to use the exact oil in my compressors than the manufacturers say to use in it. I have a compressor that I paid for a 3 year extended warranty... you can bet your boots I'm going to use what was recommended by the manufacturer. And if you ever plan on using your warranty, you should too.
