If I move a scope to a different gun can I put the cross back to factory settings?

The easy answer is probably not. Of course this would depend entirely on the two guns, the mounts, and how you actually mounted the scope taking into account any and all differences involved.

Yes you can put them there. Problem is, it may not shoot where you are aiming.

By cross do you mean reticle or that thing that Christ carried?
Optically center the scope. So scopes ship with the reticle in the middle of it's adjustment range, not all...
If you scope has resetable target turrets, yes.

In many instances I can swap a scope and only need a few clicks for windage and perhaps a couple for elevation.

PGunner,
If I am reading your post correctly, you are asking if there is a way to (after adjusting for one gun) move the scope to another gun and then reset the cross hairs (yea, I still use that term too) to the center of the scope like they were before they were ever adjusted for the gun where it was. I have done this and while it may not be the ‘super correct’ way, it works for me. I start moving the top adjustment about 15 clicks, move the side adjustment about 15 clicks and do this till both stop. Do not force it. Now reverse the adjustment that you just did for both adjustments and count the clicks till it again stops. Depending on your scope this could be any number. Normally mine have been around 50 clicks. For this example, let us assume it is 50 clicks. To get the cross hairs back to ‘pretty much’ center (factory), turn each adjustment 25 clicks from where they stopped, and you should be good.

Yup that was about what I was looking for and wasn.t sure if that could be done.
If it goes past where it should stop then did it go past the no return spot?
