Iguanas are destroying infrastructure and more down in South Florida.  So we are joining Iguana Lifestyles with and we’re going to do some Iguana Hunting with Gamo Swarm Airguns.  Specifically we’ll be using the Gamo Bone Collector Swarm Gen 2, and the Gamo Swarm Magnum Gen 2.  We are shooting the Gamo RedFire pellets for maximum lethality on these critters.  We hope you enjoy the video!

Man it’s a great time to be an airgunner!

How do the iguanas damage things? I've long heard the are a nuisance animal and invasive.

The locals must want those iguanas eliminated really bad; so much that they are letting these gentlemen hunt around those buildings.

That might be a little difficult to do elsewhere.

Iguana's here in Florida undermine the sea walls along the canals where people have homes and docks.
They will also undermine the foundation of a house and it will start to fail.  AKA cracks in walls and floors, not good.
They have them by the thousands in south Fla. and people make a business of exterminating them.

Normally iguanas are pretty innocuous but they have overpopulated in south Florida.  That overpopulation is where the worst of the impact comes from.  Big colonies of iguanas have taken over neighborhoods.  They eat fruit and growing plants and they burrow into banks and sea walls to make nests.  They will mow down gardens and even eat landscaping plants.  They cause erosion and sanitation problems and they carry parasites.  Their only predators are humans and gators.  Behaviorally, iguanas are harmless herbivores but they are also one more invasive species that Florida doesn’t need.  Exterminate all the brutes! >:(

If they are that bad when will Florida start paying us out of state hunters to come down there to eradicate them?

I recall Googling about it once, there were (and maybe still are?) iguana hunting tours you could book. But sadly we must pay Them, and not the other way around.  ::)

[/quote.  I deal with a lot of invasive species as part of my job.  For that reason I don’t like invasive species that don’t belong here.

Calling them invasive means they don't belong. You can't invade a place that you belong  ;D

Sure!  But it ain’t as much fun as you think.  Mostly I deal with exotic PLANTS.  I spend hours pulling Natal grass and Kogun grass, cutting and poisoning Brazilian pepper and Chinese tallow.  Exotic critter removal is more fun!  I haven’t had to hunt feral hogs in a while but I hear from my boss that is coming up soon!

No.  Calling them EXOTIC species means that they don’t belong here.  Native species can be invasive too.
