Title: Hi to the members of Massachsetts
Post by: dcorvino on October 07, 2016, 02:00:22 PM
Hi
Just wanted to say hi to all the Massachusetts members.
Where is everyone shooting?
And one of these days we should have a fun shoot or something.

Hi Dave, I hope to get some ideas of where to shoot. I can only target shoot in my basement. NE Airgun in Hudson is about 90 min and 3 hrs round trip. Maybe one day I will make the trip, I spoke to the owner about trading in a rifle, he seems like a nice guy.
good post Dave, I hope to see a lot of replies.

Hi Bill
Glad you like the post my friend.
New England Airgun is a nice place to shoot and John the owner is a great guy.
He is about a half hour away from me so that's about an hour which is not bad and Cabeles is near by so I hit both places when I am up there.
Hope we can find a place we can all meet up at one day.
Hopefully other local members will chime in.

Dave

Greetings,   I hope this gets some traction.   I'm a basement shooter also and occasionally 50 feet off my back deck.  Haven't made it to Hudson yet.  What's this about Cabelas?  Do they have a range there?     I'm in Acton, MA

Cheers

Hi Dave, day by day my head is clearing up. I could use some time away from the ongoing construction on my street. I am usually free during the week at night

Hi Haji
Nice to have another person from Mass on the forum.
I do not know of any events that are scheduled.
Will keep everyone posted if j hear anything, if I don't we might want to consider trying to put something together.

I stopped by NE Airgun for the first time this afternoon.  Didn't shoot but spent some time talking to John the owner.  Very nice guy, knows a lot about air rifles.   The shop has an impressive and growing inventory.

John mentioned a few groups on Facebook of people who are trying to expand air gun interested and shooting events here in MA.  If he sends me the link to the groups I will post it here on GTA.

Thank you, it's a pretty state, and lots of history.

But I have too many guns that aren't legal there, so I will not be able to accept your generous offer.

Of everything I own, only 2 were legal there, a 1911, and a 1873 revolver.

M1 carbine?    Nope
Multiple at-15's?   Nope.
Shotgun?   Nope.
Glocks?      Nope.
Magazines over 10 rounds?  Nope.

I can go on, but you get the idea.

John, thanks for posting the links. I would love to hear more about a swap meet. Would I be able to sell airguns and accessories? If not, I would still want to attend. I want to visit NE Airguns. I had talked to John on the phone about selling a Walther Lever Action(very friendly and knowledgeable). It's about a 3 hour round trip for me and that's the only reason I'm not there once a week.

I see this post is almost two years old but I'm in Tewksbury, exit 39 off 495.  Are you still in Lowell?

Hello, im in bellingham. I shoot my back yard and hunt in the woods around mit neighborhood. Plenty of opportunity for some good target shooting, people have already set up makeshift ranges for powder burners. I went up to Hudson for the first time a couple weeks ago. Had a great time. I'm planning on going back up this sat. Evening or Sunday morning. I'm very interested an indoor league and in doing some field target

Hi fellow Massholes- I'm in Barre- out in the sticks  on 26 acres with 100yd. backyard range- My only problem is my woman not being acceptable to gatherings, but I could bring in 1-2 people at a time this summer - only other problem is me working weekends. I have 9 pcp & 3 springers & air supply & love to shoot.

I bought the annual membership at NEAG after researching the indoor range at Riverside. My two favorite airguns are against the indoor rules. Both my PCP and my springer are .22 models. I have several friends and neighbors who are Riverside members. Two of the neighborhood kids who learned to shoot in my back yard many years ago shoot skeet up there and one just became a Framingham cop.

Shooting 50 yards from the bench with the PCP is fine. I really need the most practice at 40 and 50 yards. I have 25 yards at home.

I'm a teacher, so I can make some late afternoon shooting sessions. Tuesdays are my shortest days.

I'm getting really tight groups with the GTO 11.75g pellets with both my Buccaneer PCP and my Prowler NP. There is only a difference of a few clicks on the scope from CPHP 14.3g. There range is only 50' so It's hard to predict longer distances.

I'm sure you know the kids from my neighborhood. They tend to shoot skeet as a group. Blaise, Brendon and Joe.(http://i65.tinypic.com/vuqvr.jpg)

Well all right then. Those GTO's are flying well for ya.  I recognize the name Blaze sounds familiar...ya don't forget that name quick.   It's probably best to stick with lead for outdoors anyways.  A little heavier is always good in the wind.  It would be interesting to see how they do at the 50 yds.

If ya ever want to touch base you can reach me there.

Wow, that range is only 4 miles from my house. I never knew it was there. It is interesting they mention airguns on one of their pages. The application seems to want your FID card number, so it rules out an airgun only membership. I could get an FID if I spent the money on classes, I just choose not to.

New England Airgun has a decent 50' range and they keep the place warm all winter. So far the yearly membership has worked out well for me with the gun and pellet discounts I get.

Isn’t NE a lead free range, how is their pricing on the lead free pellets?

Thanks,

The same prices and deals as Pyramyd for the most part.
The range is lead free due to board of health requirements.

The lead free issue isn't too bad really. All my guns shoot GTO pellets pretty close to the same point of impact as my lead pellets and in all my guns they group tighter than CPHP pellets. Figure around $18 for 300 pellets in .22

If you're shooting a really hot PCP you might want to back out the hammer spring 2 turns.

Eddie, the H&N Baracuda Greens and SIG Wraiths are a little heavier if you want to try something with more mass. I’ve be been experimenting with them in my springers, with good results.

Hello,
Just stumbled onto this thread. Im located in the other end of the state, in Western MA. Fairly new to airguns in general so Im looking for any location(s) or events convenient or close to Western MA. Currently most of my shooting is in my backyard on a home made range.
Nice to know there are a few of us around this state.

Hey fellow Baystate residents, I live in Western Mass. I have participated in some field target events many moons ago in Mass, CT and NY. I suppose some are still scheduled but I have not seen much in the past few years. I just got back into shooting and I have a lot of guns that require repair. Right now I have been obsessed with my Airforce Talon SS. I have managed to work up several tunes at .22. I also have a .25 barrel and .20 barrel for it. Still hacking around with it.

Hello gents,
I know I'm a few years late to the party, but I just found this post.  I am a lone basement shooter in Barnstable, MA, on Cape Cod, looking for other airgunners in the area.  I like springers mostly and though I have nothing against hunting, I just don't do it myself.  I have fun shooting paper and reactive targets.  It would be fun to meet others who share this hobby.
Cheers,
Will

Hello Will, welcome to the forum. Truth be told GTA has become a little slow lately but it’s still a great resource for information. Anyways, there are three active clubs in MA that shoot together in the spring through fall.  The first is at the MRA in Woburn. The second is in Marlboro and the third is in Palmer. There might be something going on in the Cape too but I’m not sure where and I know there is also a club or two in CT.

I would suggest visiting the Airgun nation forum in the spring, it’s where matches are posted. Sometimes I repost the matches here but it’s good to keep an eye out there if you want to know ahead of time. The Woburn matches have a mix of springer and PCP shooters.

Best,
Marty
