Here's a good dinner with squirrel.
Needed
2 frozen pie shells
1 cooked and deboned squirrel
can of mixed vegetables
can of cream of potato soup
half onion diced (whole if you like onion, like me)
bit of milk
egg
Boil till tender squirrel, debone.Mix squirrel, veggies, soup, onion.Add a bit of milk to get a consistency to work with. Put all in one pie shell, put other shell on top. Brush with beaten egg to get nice brown crust.Pierce shell with fork a few times. Bake at 350 for about an hour. Just keep an eye on it. You can add mushrooms or anything you like to the mix. Enjoy. Great way to introduce non wild game eaters to some good Nature's Fare.

Tim, this sounds good. I have a couple of squirrels in the freezer now. This might be my lunch Tuesday or Wednesday. Maybe my wife will give this recipe a taste. I may do two - the first with onions for me and the other without for her. I usually do the "Squirrel in Brown Gravy" --->

and she won't eat it because of the onions (one per Fox Squirrel).

If you like mushrooms you can sub the potato soup for cream of mushroom.I've also used Cream of Asparagus and Cream of Broccoli. Recipe works well with rabbit and game birds too.

use two squirrels. Brush egg/milk on the pie crust before you bake it to make it crisp and brown

Mike - I cooked squirrel pie using your recipe. It was outstanding! I had a coon getting into my live bait and then getting into some garbage I forgot to take to the trash can. "Had" being the operative word. He was dispatched with my R9. I put him in a brown gravy with turnips. Squirrel gumbo tomorrow.

John, I might be a little late, but save me a bowl of the gumbo. Oh, how I wish that I really could go over!
Now you got me started; I will probably cook some squirrels in brown gravy tomorrow.
That coon looks good enough too, but, I have never eaten coon. Maybe one of these days . . . .
