Farm varmits fall before the mighty Disco.

I got a call from my uncle Tuesday of this past week and he tells me that he's having some trouble with some nutters stealing his shelled corn from the barn that he uses to feed cows and chickens. And if that wasn't bad enough, he says that they are now raiding the pear trees in his orchard that we use to make cobblers and can with!!! This really had him torqued off.
He wanted to know If I could help him out.
I told him no problem. And that I would be there bright and early saturday morning.
I debated on which weapon to take with me.
For nutters within 50 yds, the .22 disco is overkill. And besides, those tins of 200 H&N Barracuda Match pellets don't grow on trees and I try to ration them out for the bandits and the possums. And I just got a new Crosman Storm XT a few weeks ago that is just amazing to me at how accurate it is. Dime size groups at 30yds are a walk in the park.
But I finally decided to go with my first love and that would be the .177 Disco my loving wife gave me for Christmas last year. Its got a $54 centerpoint 3-9x32 scope and just loves those $6.97 CPHP's that I get at wally world, and oddly enough is where the scope came from also. Its completely bone stock, and its a dream to hunt with.
I arrived at the farm shortly before 6 am and noticed a nutter when I first drove up.
I could see him on the edge of the barn door where the corn is stored. I eased the disco out of the case and put in a CPHP. Eased the truck door open and used the door to brace my shot. It looked to be around 35 to 40 yds. It was looking at me and the pellet struck him right above and behind the right eye. He dropped like a stone. While I was walking toward the barn to claim my prize, I noticed another nutter had emerged from the barn loft opening and was climbing up on a piece of wood beside the barn wall. I used a fencepost as a prop and let one fly, aiming for the heart ,directly between the shoulderblades. It was right at 32 yds (I stepped it off). He fell down and did a few twitches for a second or two and then it was lights out.
With so much commotion in front of the barn, I figured that nothing else was around or in the barn or it would have came out by now. I eased up the road a piece and headed for the orchard.
About 75 yds before reaching the orchard I noticed that the top of a certain pear tree was bobbing up and down sorta funny looking. Since there was little to no wind, I figured it must be a bird or either a nutter.
I got closer and sure enough it was a nutter and he was really doing a number on a pear.
I eased up to about 30yds or so and fired. He was sideways on the branch so I double-lunged him. He fell to the ground and was cold in his own sauce by the time I walked up to get him.
I got a quick picture before having to put everything up and start helping my uncle dig potatoes that we had planted back in April.
Sorta cool in a way, just goes to show you that a fellow don't need the most expensive airgun with all the latest gadgets bolted on it to be devastating to the local squirrel population. I'm just glad Croman started selling the M-Rod cause it ended up making the Disco's more affordable to us working class stiffs. I got this rifle simply because I had read so many posts from Gene, Shadow, and LongIslandHunter about hunting with airguns and it made me want one. Thanks fellows, and a big shout-out and thanks for making this forum the greatest airgun forum on the net!!!!
Thanks Ray
