Here's one for Ed.
so bright and early this morning, first dawn... i'm slowly creeping through the woods with my great gundog Dee (Thanks for letting me take her home Gene), i see the dog stop and look up... i follow her gaze, to my first target. he sits perched up top a oak tree, munching on acorns. i fall in behind the glass, and send a pred flying. SMACK dead nutter. i continue on....
ok i'm just kidding... this morning, i was putting my dog Niko (yellow lab) out, and he ran 1/2 way to his normal pee spot and froze.... looked to the left.. and froze again... after about 10 seconds i figured out what he was looking at. my PECAN tree was absolutly full of nutters. quick count was 8+. so i call niko inside, and he comes running as commanded. i get my lawnchair and a cup of java, and commit myself to sniping. 6 went down, in 5 minutes... it was as fast as i could reload. about 10 more nutters, got away, from my onslaught with the XL1100. they all scattered and didn't come back after a few minutes... ... after i clean these, i will go back out and sit in my "hide" once more. the hardest decision was, CFX or XL.... i flipped a coin and the XL won. how do you guys decide which shooter to use??? i swear, these pecan thieves will leave me with nothing this year... my freezer is getting full however...
until next time...

Now that's more than a snack. What a great "hunting ground" you have. Don't strain yourself.

For shooting hair and feather, I use the AA S400 in 22 cal mostly. The Talon SS 177 cal mostly kills the other stuff without hair or feathers like; the pair of Gamo squirrels, paper, chalk, ice cubes and spinners, but it does get blood sometimes.
For skunks, gophers, and rattlesnake I don’t mess around, them three get blasted with the old 12 gauge.

Wow that's some sniping action! 7 nutters in a few minutes! Awesome shooting!
That Pecan tree of yours is a squirrel magnet. You are going to be doing a lot more sniping and putting food on the table for a long time. If I planted one, how many years would it take to start producing pecans?

were having nutter on the barbie tonight... :-D i have 6 beautiful tasty fresh nutters... one was no good... had another BB under the skin... this one was badly rotting under the flesh.. Ganghreen had set in. doesn't stop them from stuffing there faces with pecans. its almost as if the nutters know a storm or something is coming... i've never seen them this busy... there has been 5+ squirrels in the tree all darn day.

We just had a little sit down by the pecan tree... 3 confirmed nutters... however... only 2 on the ground. one is stuck in the tree..... and its entirely too high up for me to climb. i took 3 shots at its foot, holding it up, but it appears as its tail and foot, are caught...
oh well.... we did get my buddy, who got his hunting license yesterday, his first nutter kill ever. with the XL. i let him hold the beast, after some quick instructions, and some target shooting... we moved around back. i will post his pics shortly.

the XL gives a large margin of error..... 4 out of 11 nutters today, were quite opposite of ideal shots...... but it got hte job done. i'm thinking because of the hold sensitive rifle, and the nearly straight up shooting, i just wasn't being as accurate as i could have been... but the bodies in teh freezer show otherwise!!!
