Mike, nice shot on that gray! And, is that an eastern box turtle? Anyway, nice hunt and photos!
Randall, my friend, it appears that you are spot-on with your identification of that turtle. (photos below) Those two tortoises in the photos below appear to be twins. Thanks for the compliment. And I will not say that it was a 'Lucky Shot'. I actually took careful aim, controlled my breathing, and squeezed the trigger. My Marauder .25 is dependable if I do my job. I knew that squirrel was very likely my last chance at a shot for the day. 11 a.m., and I could see the cars passing on the highway from where I was standing. I am home today - high winds predicted with the passage of a front. That front did some damage in Arkansas last night.
Hee hee Randall, I love animals too - mostly with onions gravy and rice!Seriously, thanks for the kind words. In all modesty thought, I am doing my part so far this season. On my first hunt I was able to avoid the dreaded 'Squirrel Fever' that has given me problems at other times. So the rest of the season should go well.Stay well.
Happy Weekend Randall and thanks for the compliments. It was and unusual and fun hunt. I told my son that when the big Eastern Fox Squirrel hit the ground, the shock registered on the Richter Scale.
