Flash Light?

In doing some trading I end up with a expensive flash light that mounts to your rifle. I came with a red screw on lense. I was told that it is for hunting at night. He said that varmits are colorblind and can't see the light. well I'm colorblind and I can see the light. I can't afford a thermal so this will have to do.
So do you all use red lights for hunting at night.
Thankyou for any replies.
God Bless
Bobby

The light from colored lenses is subtle so it does not spook the game as easily, as long as you are not moving the light around and keep it in the target area, you should be good to go.

Like Back-Roads said above, most creatures are unable to see the red light spectrum but can see the subdued brightness emitted. I use a red flashlight mounted to my PCP’s but also use a red flood light at home to illuminate my bait station for rats.

I started with green lights, then tried red lights and didn't care for the results either, so now I'm using a cheap Infrared scope($475) which works way better for me. Hopefully you'll have better luck than I did with red lights. Red lights worked great for me with deer, coons ect but it spooked the hogs before I could get a shot despite turning to dim on flood mode instead of bright on spot mode. A lot of guys get hogs with red lights but those hogs were onto me from past experiences with my red light, plus they wouldn't go into my traps from seeing previous hogs in them so I had to upgrade to IR.

Hogs and Coyote learn about lights pretty quick. We got five hogs in quick succession (over 3 nights) last year using a green light but after that initial burst the critters got wise. We had already had no luck with a red light. I’m using an UltraFire WF-501B with a green LED and a remote pressure switch. It is powerful enough to light up the target at 75 yards on a dark night. Reliability is an issue so I won’t recommend this brand.

They are very smart and get wise to our tactics quick. Top quality lights that I have experience with are wicked hunting lights and sniper hog lights.
Speaking of flash lights my headlamp broke so I got another one a TH30. Judging from the picture I think it will be more than bright enough and I got it for under $65 shipped!

Already have two red lights and they are bright as all get out. The one for my rifle I can see hundreds of yards with it. My red headlamp will shine well over 100yds.

Would you list a site where you found that head lamp, I am very interested in it?

Here you go Don.

A review of it too. There are many more reviews of it there as well.
This TH30 is a wide flood beam light that has no spot mode like the TH10 V2 which shines farther since it has no flood beam like the TH30. Some lights have both modes like my old one did but I'm happy with this.

Off topic from the original post, but if you want an awesome headlamp that doubles as a compact edc light, I HIGHLY recommend this one. This is a reliable seller too.
