Randall to be honest I was a little intimidated when I saw him, so I took out my post powerful Condor .25 that had a fresh fill, and I dialed the power up a little more than I usually do. The Beeman Kodiak 31gr left the muzzle at around 1,050fps. You can't see the damage at the exit wound in that pic, but in this one you can see fragments of the skull that got pushed out, and brain matter oozing out. It was the most damage I have done to a G-hog's head/skull, and he had a BIG head. I guess I felt I could not take a chance with this one

I’d be intimidated too by that bruiser...if you only injured him, he might have charged you like a wounded Alaskan brown bear and then who knows what damage he might have done to you LOL! I know you did the right thing by ramping up the power to over 76ft/lbs of ENERGY! That did a number to fragment that thick skull and brain matter! Safety first....right!? He he..😉
Harry, I've been so busy with other things I haven't been shooting my BB guns at all of late. Have 2 g-hogs under 2 of my sheds but just been to busy to hunt em. Plenty of summer left though Jeff

He he..😉Randall, I was actually going to use the EunJin (Korean) 43gr pellets to get about 90fpe (960-970fps), hehe, but I had forgotten where the POI was with those, and decided to go with the Kodiak/Baracuda 31gr because those have the same POI @ 25yds whether it's 1,000 or 1,060 fps from ~2600psi down to ~2k psi. I have used the Condor .25 with 43gr on a couple of raccoons at 85-90fpe and they were devastating. That was a long time ago (2008-09) when I thought I needed a lot of power to take down these "bruisers", but of course now I know differently, and I am more about air conservation, consistency, and shot placement, and have the same results with much less powerful AG's. The Disco I took this G-hog with can be dialed up to 30fpe, but I choose to shoot it at 24-25fpe (w/18.1 JSB), and as you know I took a couple of G-hogs last summer with the Prod set at 14.2fpe muzzle energy.
Nice shot. I just took my first ‘chuck yesterday. Same situation as yours. It moved in under my shed and I got a nice head shot from my upstairs window with my .22 Fortitude. Last year I took out three of them.
That's right, the odds are overwhelmingly on my side every time and that's the way I like it I stopped using my Condors (and Mrod) because they pellets were going right through the G-hogs' heads and were damaging the tool shed, almost as much as the G-hogs chewing on it. I rarely get a passthrough with this tuned Disco .22 which is the main reason I use it, plus it is very quiet with a vented TKO and baffles.
I got this picture with my phone thru my spotting scope out my second story bedroom window. This is one of the ones I am giving a pass to this year in hopes of having more targets for next year!Jim - jhm757
